Satine has a bracelet. It's about thirty years younger than she is, but (so is he) she can't stop admiring it.
You should admire it too.
You should admire it too.

(Even if Mary Anne did give her a knife, lalalala...)
Of course, if you take out 'horrible Scottish,' that's could be a description of Mary Anne.
"And there might be other people from Shakespeare running around, but she's the only one I've met."

"Oh." Beat. "How very odd." She pauses again. "I should be worried if her husband were here as well. Any play that's such bad luck to perform can't have good in store for the rest of us."

"When last I spoke to her, there's been no sign of her husband. So we'll avoid the Scottish play for now."
She props her chin on her hand. "So. Tell me about New York. I've never been, not even in my time, and I'm terribly curious."

This is a Big Deal, the electricity. Zidler would pop a cork if he saw it all at once.

She grins. "I'm going to see if I can't get an invitation from somebody. I've run into a few New Yorkers from different times, so it shouldn't be too hard."
She probably hasn't seen so many lights, given that her experience is limited to a small town in Ohio and the Vietnam jungle. The city would be almost overwhelming by comparison, though in a good way.

"Bar is very considerate about providing you with the proper look for blending in. It's very strange, though, being in a completely different world like that. I won't pretend I wouldn't go back if I had the chance, though. There's so much to see."

"What all did you do, aside from get stunning bits of jewelry?"

"Before that, we went to Macy's, and..." Nearly got thrown out for indecent public behavior? "Tried on a few dresses." A little grin to herself. "And Jack took me to visit one of his friend's theaters, where they were having rehearsals. He also took me to the most delightful little Indian restaurant, which was wonderful because it's my favorite cuisine. And then we went to the cinema, which was just breathtaking. I could hardly believe how good the talkies look!"
She doesn't mention the part where she nearly coughed up a lung. It puts a bit of a tint on all the rest of the adventure.

The coughing thing is negligable, really.
"You two planning on going back again, or just enjoying each other's company here?"
There is no Leer, there is no Subtext. It's damn near out of character.

Small smirk. "As vexing as it is not to be able to leave, between Bar and the endless array of company, one could keep occupied for some time."

Grin. Smirk. Little quick wink.

Among other things, she headlines, anyway.
"What is it you do?"
no subject
She runs a hand through her hair. "I'm a soldier, after a fashion."
It's admittedly the short version of her story. For some people, it's enough. Not that she isn't prepared to go further.

"What are you fighting for?"
