She calls a waitrat, and orders two mugs of her 'usual'...

"So, before the disaster, what had been going on in your life? I have been moping in my room and so out of the gossip net ..."

"I was simply studying, and practicing magic."

"Mmm, as quiet an existance as mine, but more productive no doubt ..."

"Under some points of view, yes..." A smile... the drinks arrive, Serena offers a steaming mug to Mina, it does indeed taste good, almost as good as real human blood, and has a quite good alcohol content...

She drinks deeply, her eyes closing as she conciously relaxes, a smile forming on her lips after a moment as the warmth flows into her. "Mmm ... very nice."

She opens her eyes with a smile to Serena. "How can moping be considered equal to study?"

"Some people equal study with waste of time." She nods, drinking, before it cools down.

"Such people have never been schoolteachers," she sniffs disdainfully as she finishes her mug.

Her eyes close again and she stretches slowly. "Mmmm, this is very good."

"I told you it was." Serena relaxes too... smiling a bit to herself...

She glances to Serena out of the corner of her eye and notes the smile. "A penny for your thoughts?"

"After three mugs, I start to feel dizzy..." The vampire giggles.

"Hmm ... dizzy sounds nice. We could help each other up the stairs if we had to." Dubiously she examines that thought. Judging by past performance (which is no guarantee of future earnings), she wouldn't be able to stand in a few mugs. She shrugs that thought away.

"Or stay down here," she adds.

"I already had two, today..." She stretches lazyly.

"Then I need to catch up. If I may?" She waves one of the waitrats over.

"Go ahead..." She grins, and just for the heck of it, orders her third.

She places her order at the same time and watches it hurry off. "What are you studying, in your magic?"

"Oh, applications of the vampiric nature... what exactly is that makes us unaging... maybe it can be applied to other things."

"Really?" Her interest perks up, imagining an unaging Mr. Q. "How is that coming?"

"Slow. My main subject of study were ghouls... and here... there is none."

"Ghouls?" She imagines something less like Serena knows of and more something from Lovecraft.

"A ghoul, not a ghûl. A ghoul is a human who was fed vampire blood. It imparts greater physical resilence, and immortality... as long as the mortal is fed regulary."

"Renfield," she says. Her tone is ... less than pleasant.

"From your tone, I can tell you this: some degenerate quickly, mad by the touch of power..."

"Can you not find a volunteer here?"

"I probably could, but the issue is complicated... my blood is rather... addictive."
