"Whenever. I need a day or so to prepare, since I know we will need monetary means while we are there. But -- if you wished to go on Monday, we could. It is up to you, lover. Gorlim, too, of course, but I am sure he would not mind whenever you chose."

He nuzzles his neck playfully, loving having him near again.

"If Gorlim's up for it then, Monday sounds great."

He just feels guilty that he can't pay for any of it himself. The dead are all completely at Bar's financial mercy.

"There are a lot of things we're going to need, besides money. Fake names and passports for you and Gorlim, I'll need my driver's license and passport back..."

He surveys Namo.

"And--" He hates to say this. He winces. "I think you'll need shorter hair."

"Would you be able to do these passports and such?"

Then he pauses.

"You dislike my hair now?"

"Hopefully I can ask Bar--"

He looks at Namo. "No! No, I don't dislike your hair. I love your hair. But no human guy could believably have hair like that."

Námo fingers his waist-length black hair.

"I have grown fond of this hair."

Another pause.

"And my ears?"

"I am fond of it. I wouldn't ask you to cut it permanently...just...magic it short while we were in public there."

He pauses. He hadn't even thought of the ears.

"Well," he says slowly. "It is your world, and not mine. But...there aren't any elves in your world anymore, are there? Only humans?" He has read the trilogy, at least.

He nods.

"Maglor was the last, but he tended to hide his under his hair." He sighs. "I will have to look mortal?"

"Yeah." He doesn't like asking Namo to do it. "But only in public..."

The Vala thinks about this.

"I cannot change my eyes, you understand. They are the only thing about me not under my control."

He nods quickly. "I wouldn't ask you to anyway. Just the hair and ears."

"All right," he agrees, then smiles secretly. "But only when others are around? When it is just you, Gorlim and me... in our room?"

"Only in public," he promises. "When it's just us, I'd hope you could look like yourself."

He curls up further on the couch, thinking. "As for identities. The rule of thumb is that false names should sound similar to your own, so you can remember them easily and make them sound natural. You'll just need a first name and a last name."

"I do not know the names in your world that would make sense," he says. "I only know the names of people I have met here. I will leave it to you to choose -- I trust you, lover."

"Hmm." He's drawing a blank. "Well...uh...we can figure that part out later."

"Yes."

He kisses his lips lightly.

"Where would you like for us to arrive first? The door to open to?"

"I think we ought to start in Los Angeles. We can travel to San Francisco and Canada from there, but LA's where I was living when I died, so...that'd probably be a good place."

He nods thoughtfully. "A very good idea. We will have to obtain transportation and a place of lodging. I intended for us to spend a month there -- is that all right with you?"

"A month sounds fantastic." His eyes are lit up at the idea of being back almost-home for an entire month.

"Transportation and lodging won't be a problem. We'll rent cars, stay in hotels and take a plane between Canada and the US. What do you want to see?"

His heart beats just a little faster to see Lee's eyes like that. It is at that moment he swears to himself to make that happen as often as absolutely possible.

"Plane?" he asks when he comes back to himself. "And... I do not know what there is to see, Lee. Gorlim might know better than I do what would be interesting to see. I just want you to show me what you find important -- what you want to see."

"An airplane. It's a machine that allows you to fly long distances." He smiles, imagining Gorlim's reaction to flying for the first time. He hopes it doesn't scare him.

"Somehow I don't think we're going to be sitting around looking for stuff to do." He grins.

He smiles at him.

"Interesting. Machines that fly."

Námo presses a brief kiss to Lee's lips.

"No. I am certain you will know exactly what we should do -- where, when and how. A world neither of us has even glimpsed but that you once lived in. This will be quite an adventure for our warrior."

He rests his head against Namo's shoulder. "I want to show you the little things, too. Not just the big landmarks and things like that. Stuff I used to take for granted because I did it everyday. Now I haven't seen it in months, and you've never seen it..."

The Vala nods against his head.

"We shall be sure to see all you wish to. And we can always go back, love. I will be happy to go again and again, as often as you desire."
