Kevin's up early and around the bar, reading - not a medical journal for once, but the copy of Gulliver's Travels Darien gave him.

There's one or two people he's keeping an eye out for, but anyone is welcome.

He nods, amused. "That'd be awkward."

"Yes. Everyone would be subject to the sight of my ankles." Her lips twitch.

"Also, it's the middle of winter."

"Is it indeed." She smiles again, and this time it is not a particularly pleasant expression. "Perhaps I will take a little walk outside sooner rather than later, then."

He nods, trying not to be disturbed by that smile. "It's kind of pretty out there with the snow."

Jadis smoothes her features. "I am. . . fond of the snow. Although I am not troubled by the cold."

"I'm more used to the warm. But it's nice to look at."

"It is." She appears to think a moment. She cups her hands together, and whispers something. In the space between her hands, a few snowflakes form. She pulls her hands apart after a few moments, and the snowflakes fall, to melt on the floor. Her hands are trembling slightly and the shadows under her eyes are back.

"I had better not try that again soon."

"If it drains your strength that much, no. Not until you're completely recovered."

Jadis shrugs. "I had expected as much. Although I don't know how much of that is this place, and how much is me."

"You think the place is draining your strength?"

She shakes her head. "Not the place, no. But I have found that my magic varies from world to world. This place is - well, I'm not sure, but it seems to me it would have to be either all places, or none. So I don't know how my magic will operate here. Although it seems I will have some." She smiles. "That is a relief. I would not care to be defenceless."

Kevin nods. "Don't try to find out until you're stronger, though."

She bows her head gracefully, eyeing him through her lashes. "As you say, wise doctor." Is she teasing him? Not Possible. . .

He smiles slightly.

"Sorry."

"Oh, you're quite right. I'm. . . still adjusting."

"Understandable."

"Well," Jadis stands. "If you don't mind, I think will try my luck at the Bar. I would quite like a salad."

"Not at all. See you later."

"Once again, thankyou for your company."
