Into the Bar comes Barry. He's tired from having stayed up just a bit too late playing poker, but the excitement of the day is enough overcome anything like lack of sleep. And of course he's smiling. not often that a hero gets to be a groomsman for another hero.

For now, though, Barry calms himself and ponders what to have for breakfast.

Barry raises an eyebrow. "How so then? No costumes but super-powers, maybe?" He's encountered that more than once here.

"...well. Hank mentioned you were on security. Did you see my note about my brother?"

"I porbably did, but it would help if you told me who your brother is." Yes, Barry should recognize the last name, but the notes sometimes come and go.

"Oh - Darien Fawkes."

[ooc: hometime, back in about an hour and a half]

Barry thinks back. "Oh. The guy with the fits of rage, and the invisibility powers? Yes, now I remember.

"I assume that whatever lets him turn invisible interferes with the rest of his body chemistry?" Funny how the idea of someone turning invisible seems perfectly normal.

[ooc: not a problem]

"It does. But my point was... the closest to superheroes we have in our world are experimental subjects. Like Darien. He's actually the most successful I'm aware of, though of course it's possible I just don't know about them."

"Ah. I get it.

"Well, certainly invisibility would count as a super-power, if he could control it. And it's possible that the experiements might bear fruit in terms of creating true heroes later." Barry's decaf arrives, and he takes a sip.

"Is there any kind of treatment to alleviate his madness?"

"There is, but it's only a short-term solution - he has to be given it at least once a week, more if he uses his invisibility a lot. I'm looking for more permanent fixes, but I don't think it's going to be in the immediate future."

"You should have a talk with Hank about that, after he gets back. His world's tech is quite advanced, and he might have some ideas." A man with 12, or it is 13, PhDs, usually does. "Does he use his powers even though he runs this risk?"

"The attacks would happen even if he never used his powers, just because the source of it is in his brain. I could take it out tomorrow, but he wouldn't survive the surgery. And yes, he does. Doing missions is the only way he has to get counteragent, away from here."

"Oh god." Barry is appalled to hear that someone is blackmailing Darien. "What kind of lousy operation would do that to him?

"Maybe you could give Hank a sample of the counteragent, and let us try to duplicate it, so he can get out from under this."

"The people who funded me to make the thing", Kevin says dryly. "And I can make more. The question is if he'd be willing to stay here full-time."

"It would be safer, I think, if he did. But if he has a life to go to out there, I wouldn't blame him for taking the risk." Barry withholds further comment about Kevin's situation. He's heard of too many other scientists who get caught in the same bind.

"At least they've given him a marker now so he can tell when he's close to needing his shot before the symptoms start."

Barry gives a puff of exhaled air. "I wish him luck. And you, for that matter."

"Thanks. It's appreciated."

Hsi decaf finished, Barry feels refreshed. "It was good talking, but if you will excuse me, I have a room to clean and a wedding to prepare for. But I'll see you in the infirmary."

Kevin nods.

"See you soon."
