Angela, heavy makeup and clad entirely in baggy black clothing, is huddled in the corner of a booth.

Her mom and dad just left the bar. Grampa left a week ago.

She feels very dreadfully alone.

And very scared.

A familiar figure sits nearby.

Still dressed in her houserobe and slippers. Damned bar. Mesaana calmly sipped her tea, after their last discussion, she decided to postpone Angela's death. She was too easy to manipulate to do otherwise, just yet.

A small, slightly concerned smile at Angela.

Rising, Mesaana walks over to sit calmly across from Angela. She glanced down into the dark depths of her tea cup.

"Your mother and father have left, have they not?"

A pause.

"Would you care for some tea? You look as if you could use a cup."

Mesaana calmly orders Angela a cup of tea. A strong brew with an odd, full flavor sweetened with honey. She commented off-handedly in her crystalline voice.

"That cup is brewed in the V'Saine style, you may find it different than what you usually drink."

Mesaana studied her worriedly. A note of concern in your voice.

"You look... ill at ease."

A long sigh as she glanced around for a moment as if unsure what exactly to say.

"...I think that your mother will certainly love you, even if she is displeased on occasion."

He's not her grandpa or her father. He's just a random writer. But he has hot chocolate. Two glasses, in fact. One's for Angela.

He slides into the opposite seat. "You look like you need that." He flicks his hand slightly, urging her to drink.

He grins, a small grin. "You're welcome." A pause as he picks up his own mug and sups.

"You look upset about something. Want to talk?"

He nods. Separation from family was a feeling he knew just barely, and still, as a minor experience, he knew how dreadful it was.

"I can understand that. Do you...do you have any friends--adult friends--who can keep an eye on you while you're gone? I don't mean to babysit, but, if you start to feel too lonely, they'll be there."

There's a small girl watching her critically from the bar.

After a moment: "Why are your eyes all black?"

Mary gives her a dubious look.

"Why do you want your eyes to look all black?"

". . . it is not much of a disguise," Mary says, frankly. "People can still see your nose, and your mouth - you would be better off with a mask if you really wanted one."

Mary just looks at her, and patiently points out, "I did not think ot was normal.

Besides, anyone can tell who you are still - so I do not see how it would work."
