Amy is out in the stables again. She's dragged a bale of hay to just outside her horse's stall, and is sitting on it, reading to the horse from a book of legends and fables from Phantasmorania.

She's hoping she'll find something that would be a good horse name, or that the horse will seem to like, but so far, the horse mostly seems interested in figuring out why Amy has decided to sit on her lunch.

"Don't you like any of these?" Amy asks, hopefully.

The horse sniffs what seems to be a negative.

Amy, with a sigh, starts the next story.

She'd probably quite like to be interrupted.

The door to the stables opens, and a woman wanders in, tossing an apple between her hands, and singing to herself. She almost misses the other woman as she walks to the stall next to her, where a large black Pegasus is rather placidly munching at horsefeed.

Val blinks, then smiles. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you."

"It's a shame. Books should be enjoyed. Well, unless they're boring." Val wipes a Pegasus-spitted hand on her skirt, then holding it out. "I'm Valentine. It's nice to meet you." She points at the Pegasus. "That's Solon."

"He is. I got him a little under a year ago." Solon bows his head to Amy, then shakes his mane and goes back to finding his oats more than interesting.

"I know I've seen you around, but I don't think I've actually introduced myself." Val smiles.

Val chuckles. "I understand. I'm originally from Earth, but now sorta from a planet called Coruscant, and neither Bound nor dead, as much time as I spend here." She shrugs. "This place was home for a long time. It still is in a way."

[identity profile] empath-wiggin.livejournal.com 2006-02-21 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sortof. My time has people who are going to live on other planets, however, switching takes quite a lot of time, energy, and planning." She pauses. "And, well, as strange as this sounds, I met my husband here. He's from a totally different universe than my own. I live in his 'verse now, so it's a planet that my home doesn't even know about." She turns pink, reaching out and petting Solon on the nose. "It's horribly confusing, and I don't even really understand it myself sometimes."

[identity profile] empath-wiggin.livejournal.com 2006-02-21 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"I went back a few times at first, but everyone that I love has died. Travelling between planets in my time takes years, so when one gets where one is going, everyone that one left has died." She shrugs, apologetically. "It's, confusing. Anyway, all I had back home was my little brother. He comes here every so often, but we decided that it would probably be easier for both of us if I didn't come back much."

"It's not as hard as it sounds, really. I really only was ever close to my brother. I don't mind starting over." She smiles, then shrugs. "Have you found anyone from your home here since you arrived?"

Preston is out exploring "Scotland." It's cold where he is, now, so he has a coat. A cot that, alas, does not seem to be warm enough for "Scotland." He wanders into the stables to warm up. And to look at the horsies!

[identity profile] honest-preston.livejournal.com 2006-02-21 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Old women? Elves? Whut? Preston turns in the direction of the odd comments and sees a rather pretty young woman talking to a horse. "Hi," he says, his eyebrows raised in shock, his mouth twitching with the makings of an amused smile. "What was that about elves and old women...?"

[identity profile] honest-preston.livejournal.com 2006-02-21 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there goes the shock. Now he's just amused. "Oh. Maybe she'd enjoy a story where the horse was the hero."

[identity profile] honest-preston.livejournal.com 2006-02-21 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
He shakes his head. "Just coming in to warm up a little. My name's Preston."

"Why would somebody paint a horse?"
