Ed in the bar, with a taped up broken nose and an annoyed look on his face. He's not doing anything except keeping an eye on the bar - he's gotta find a member of Security as soon as possible.
He probably shouldn't even have gone home last night, but he couldn't help it. He just hopes it's not too late to do something about all of this crap.
Feel free to come around - he won't snap at anybody, honest. He could use a little cheering up.

"Are you Ed?" the prince asks, approaching him.

"Wha?" Ed looks caught between worry and annoyance, now. "Did she do something? Was I too late? I tried to get back here earlier..."

He pulls up a chair and perches in it, keen eyes watching Ed.
These are not the kind of eyes you lie to. These are the kind of eyes that give every appearance of being completely on your side.

Yeah, he's gonna be honest about the fact all he'd do is lecture her.
"She was just acting really freaky, so I was trying to get her to calm down. That wasn't working, so I kinda baited her into hitting me," he admits. "I figured if she got mad at me, she wouldn't go and do something else."
He was wrong.
no subject
"You... baited her. How? And what was she doing that made you decide to take such actions?"

Ed knows this all too well.

He knows, but has not yet been allowed ample opportunity to mull over it when it happens. There are reasons Aragorn ordered the healers not to tell him about his father until he had things to do. That point in time happened to have occurred the day before he got here. So he conveineitly acquired reasons not to have to think about it.
Anyway.
"How long have you known her? Are you two particularly -- close?"
no subject
"Known her a little less than a month," he says, finally, "But it feels like longer. She's one of my best friends here, and we're roommates."
Anything else, he wouldn't admit to, especially since last night sealed it for him as a non-possibility.

He does not mention anything about curses or potential possession. No use scaring the fellow.

In any case, the glowing red stone of his ring catches the light as he approaches the bar. He stops, to get a cup of coffee and a hand full of dog treats to take outside with him. He nods politely at the man he's standing next to.

Yeah, that's... not going to pass Ed's attention at all, though he's going to be careful not to jump to a conclusion immediately that this ring is what he thinks it is. After all, this is the bar, and there might be a great deal of a variety of things - it might not be a stone at all.
Still, though, his greeting to House is tainted by its existance.
"What is that?" He asks, staring at the ring.

"What friend?" Ed attempts for his voice to sound completely and totally casual, but maybe it's not working so well.
no subject
"Why? Jealous? Or did someone give you one like it once?"
no subject
"Buddy," he says, "If that's what I think it is, I wouldn't give it to my own worst enemy."

"Bad enough a couple of healers I spoke to when I first came here told me there was nothing they could do."

Ed studies it again.
"I've got no idea who gave that to you, but it's sure as hell sounding like something from my world. Either it's a fake philosopher's stone or a real one - but either way, you want nothing to do with it."
