Mark's in the bar, with a camera, notebook, and a huge plate of pancakes, which he is pondering, a bit warily. He wanted lunch. But it would seem that the bar would much prefer he had breakfast. Oh, well.

And here's a familiar face! He just hasn't been in for a while!

"-ya should try them with rasberry."

"Oooh, that sounds like a good idea." Mark talks, around the big pile of pancakes in his mouth. "Hey! Carl! How're you?"

"Doin' good and keeping busy." Carl smiled, "Mind if I sit?"

"Not at all!" Mark waves a fork at the empty chair. "Never mind your company." He grins, wiping his mouth on a napkin.

Carl eases himself down, sighing at how out of shape he is.

"So how've you been kiddo?"

"Um. Ignoring the fact that I've been in jail for the past week and a half, not bad at all." He chuckes, a bit ruefully. "Things are going quite well back home."

"Jail?"

Beat.

"Jail? You?"

Carl smiles, "....my sympathies kiddo. I've been there-though I hazard your jail might be worse."

Mark sighs. "It was just the government being stupid. I bought some medicine for my roommate through less-than-legal channels." He pauses. "It was a mess, but it's all better now." He laughs. "It was certainly an experience."

"I hear you." Carl grinned, "I've been jailed...two? three times? All for my art of course."

Beat.

"The government's always giving people trouble. FDR's supposed ta fix that though."

Mark snorts. "Government never changes, Carl. FDR wasn't bad, but still. They're all the same." He grins. "Always having it in for the artists."

"Yeah? He'll do good?" Carl grinned, "Good to know my vote counts for somethin. He's got work for the artists though-you tellin' me that'll change?"

"Eventually." Mark shrugs. "It'll be a few years. But things do get better."

Good to know.

He shrugged, shaking his head, "-Boy though..."
