Uh oh. Max is plotting something again.

Or at least that's what the blueprints and assorted sheafs of paper scattered around her would suggest. She's biting her lower lip, a nervous habit. Every few moments she glances up. She might be looking for someone, or just keeping an eye on things. It's anyone's guess, really.

She's definitely up for distraction.

"There'll be something, somewhere."

She lowers her chin into the palm of one hand, studying him intently. "Why would you even be willing to risk that?"

He blinks up at her.

"Why wouldn't I? What good is a life not used for other people?"

She opens her mouth, then closes it again, huffing softly.

"I don't think I'll ever get you..."

...Because she's never done anything that might well be suicidal. Really.

He opens his arms.

"You just have to say the word, and I'm yours."

She glares at him. Which is spoiled by the fact that she's rather obviously trying not to laugh.

"You know what I mean!"

He pouts.

"Yeh, guess I do."

She blinks once, giving him an odd look. "...You're pouting."

"You didn't take me."

A legitimate argument.

Awww, look at those big, innocent brown puppy-dog eyes! "Take you where?"

Look at those clear blue inncoent eyes!

"Anywhere..."

He probably wins at the innocent game.

She laughs. "Awww. Don't tell me you're easy."

A blink.

"Why not?"

A moment's hesitation. And then she just shrugs. "'Cause?"

"One of us has to be the easy one."

"Hmmm. Would that mean I'm the difficult one? Or impossible?" She's been called both.

Along with 'insufferable bitch', and a whole host of far less pleasant things.

"I'd say hard."

Okay, maybe he can be the hard one too.

Shuddup. Okay, fine, laugh.

She might smirk, ever so slightly. "Is that a problem for you?"

"Not really, I don't think."

He leans over and kisses her cheek.

"The challenge is invigorating."

She smiles faintly. "That's good to hear, I think. Though I won't be offended if you get fed up."

She knows she's something approaching impossible. But 20 years worth of defense mechanisms are hard to drop.

He'll keep trying. She's ~~Jessica Alba!~~ worth it.

"I would. Perserverence, gotta love it."

He looks upwards.

"And I see it's time for me to check in on some of my projects. Scuse me?"

~~Snicker.~~

She nods slightly. "See ya 'round. And good luck."

He gives her a parting kiss, and is gone, into the rafters.
