Out in the stables, Sparhawk is leading Faran in to care for him and put him away for the morning after a good morning ride. He is dressed, as usual, in his chain mail and cloak, sword at his side and the small pouch of Bhelliom inside his shirt. It has been a good few weeks, but he is feeling very cabin fever-ish as he has been here much longer than he was ready to be.

Had Cain pointed out the stables the other night while showing her around? She couldn't quite remember.

Well, she's found them now. And someone she hasn't met before.

"Sorry, she says quietly, feeling the odd urge to speak as though she's in a library. "Am I allowed to be in here?

She nods, and moves a bit forward, but is cautious.

"I'll keep my distance, then, as I've never really been around horses much. Is one of them yours, or do they all belong to the bar?"

She takes a few reflexive steps backward, though she wasn't anywhere near near enough to be bitten or kicked.

"He's very beautiful," she ventures. "What makes him behave so?"

She edges a bit closer to the stall, but still keeps her distance. "Are you really? And do you tend to kick and bite, as well?"

She's teasing. Probably.

"In that case, I'll feel safe introducing myself. I'm Molly Prewett."

She grins in lieu of a handshake, since his hands are busy tending to Faran, and she really doesn't want to get bit by a horse.

"It's nice to meet you. I don't think I've ever met a knight before. I've only ever heard about them in books my mother used to read to me as a child,"
she tells him. "Where are you from?"

[identity profile] mollyprewett.livejournal.com 2006-03-07 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't think it's in mine," she says. "But my world is awfully big. I'm from Earth. More specifically, wizarding England."

"I wish I knew the answer to that," she smiles. "Are there no other people from your world here? You mentioned a wife - is she here with you?"

[identity profile] mollyprewett.livejournal.com 2006-03-07 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Does she love being Queen so much?" she asks curiously. "And wouldn't that make you a king?"

She wonders if she should have curtsied or something upon meeting him.

[identity profile] mollyprewett.livejournal.com 2006-03-07 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"And what do knights on your world do?" she asks. "In the tales I was told as child, it was all heroic quests, and saving princesses from dragons and things like that."

[identity profile] mollyprewett.livejournal.com 2006-03-07 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Defend the faithful from what?"
she wants to know. "And dragons are a nasty business on my world, so it's just as well you've not had to fight one."

She's hardly aware that she's drifted closer, and is resting her arms on the stall of Faran's stall.

"We do have trolls. I've never seen one in person, but the pictures are bad enough. Still, I believe a dragon is more impervious to harm, and most likely, quite a bit smarter than the trolls on my world. Do you have magic?"

[identity profile] mollyprewett.livejournal.com 2006-03-07 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"And only Knights have it?" she asks eagerly. "You aren't born with it?"

[identity profile] mollyprewett.livejournal.com 2006-03-07 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"One can't just learn magic on my world. Either you're born to it, or you're not."

She admires the way he competently grooms and cares for his horse, and takes a look at many of the other stalls that are occupied by all sorts, some true horses, others with wings or horns and such. All look very well cared for.

"Do you know if anyone here offers riding lessons? I've never been on a horse. It might be nice to try it sometime."

"Do you know who runs the stables, then?" she asks. "They would know, don't you think?"

((ooc: slowtime or wrap, please!))

"Caspian?" she grins widely. "I know him, so that should make it easier. I haven't seen him in ages, and he's probably just been out here the whole time. I clearly need to get out more."

((ooc: thanks!))
