Ako had mentioned to Laini about the tabs. Thus, when Laini arrives today, she has a small purse-sized bag with her. It gets set on the top of the Bar, and she rapidly sorts through it. Yira, shekles, galliahs, omis, along with chinese dollars and USD $2 bills get stacked on the bartop as she does conversions on her PDA.

"Sixty-nine per, cross by the inflation rate of feathers in finland... and that should cover it, with a bit to spare. We're good?"

Apparently, as the money vanishes. Laini grins, and orders some sort of coffee drink, with enough flavors and sugar in it that the existance of coffee in the cup is debatable.

He chuckles.

"So what brings a beautiful woman like you into the Bar on a day like this?"

"Well, bringing in the cash to pay off my tab, for one." Laini motions to the sign.

"Then- they have good coffee here, for another. And usually they're quite good with the company here as well."

"What do you do, to bring in the cash?"

And he grins.

"They do indeed. I prefer wine, since they have my vintage."

And he grins a little wider.

"I am beginning to think you are right about the company as well."

He rises and walks over.

"Name's Cain."

"Me?" Laini chuckles. "I'm a magi-tech. One of the best in Underhill."

Even given that its a very rare skill and profession- she is still one of the best, if not the best.

She grins, and gives him a half-bow from her seat. "'Name's Laini."

"A magi-tech? What is that?"

He gives her a bow back.

"Nice to meet you, Laini."

"When they get advanced enough, there's a very fine line between the both of them, magic and technology." Laini waggles her fingers.

"Voodoo dolls and chants, electricity." She giggles.

"But, the line gets fine enough that you can blur it."

He grins.

"Sounds fascinating. I would love to see you work."

Of course, he isnt just talking about magic and tech, but that is part of entendre isnt it?

"Well, I could be persuaded to give a demonstration." She grins, giving him a sideways look.

All part of the innuedo.

His face breaks into a grin.

"And how would a fellow go about... persuading you?"

His eyes track her form slightly and his smile widens a bit. He is appreciative of her smarts and her looks.

"Hm. A mentioning of common interests, or curiousity in specialized areas." Laini chuckles, sipping her coffee.

"Well, I dont know much about your interests, but I have worked as a computer programmer and engineer. When one is as old as I am, you get around the fields of business. I was fairly good at it when I was in the jobfield."

"Well, see- I do know programming, of several various sorts." Laini nods, grinning. "Some work with computers."

"What do you with them, the computers?"

"And what other kinds of programming are there?"

he eyes her curiously.

"Like I said, magi-tech. With the right hard-ware and programming, you can have a system that works with both magic and technology. Its a tricky balance, but doable."

He eyes her on that.

"Sounds fascinating. Can anyone learn it?"

His eyes spark with curiosity.

"Well, the normal part of the programming, sure. Humans on earthside learn it all the time- anyone with half a brain can." Laini nods.

"The magic part- you have to be someone with aptitude on that on your own, to start."

"Oh... how do you know if you have an apptitude?"

he had never had much use for magic, but this was interesting.

"... You just do?" Her ears flatten, as she thinks. "For some species its a rare gift that occurs, for others, its... just a normal thing."

"Ah, oh well. I probably dont have it then. Most humans on my world dont."

He smiles.

"What kind of computers do you work on, I mean, what do you make?"

"Eh- you'd be surprised. Its maybe not that rare, but they don't believe in it anymore, silly things." She shakes her head, then chuckles.

"I work on the Underhill Mapping project- so we need special computers and programs to handle that sort of thing, y'see?"

"Hmmm. Cool."

He grins as he watches her.

"I see that, yeah. Sounds interesting. How does one get involved in something like that?"

His eyes are curious and intense.

"Well, I know the Lady who's in charge of it all, and she wanted the best, so." Laini grins.

"The project is run out of Furhold, and I live there, so that also worked out. Then again, they say it takes a twisted mind to even understand the geography of Underhill..." She snickers.

He chuckles and nods.

"Sounds like you have some serious skills."

He sounds impressed.

"Can I see some of what you have done? I admit to being very curious."

His voice dips on the very.

"Hm." Laini turns to start rummaging on her utility belt, checking packets, holsters and pouches.

"Well, I got a few programs on my PDA, though most of my major stuff is back at Furhold, usually."

"Oh."

Nope, no disappointment there.

"That's cool. Furhold sounds interesting too."
