Al enters the bar and makes his way to the bar to see if there are any messages from Ed. There aren't, and he gets The Notice instead.

Al exits the bar again.

He returns a second later with some odd-looking currency, and puts it on the bartop. His tab disappears. Hooray for gainfully employed brothers.

That settled, he goes over to his table and starts reading something huge and scientific.

Kagome just blinks, sitting up in her seat with her hands in her lap. "...Well, uh..." She looks up, holding a finger to her chin in thought as she stares at the ceiling. "...Well, I don't really know how to describe it..." she thinks aloud.

"I can tell you about my world, if you'd like."

She looks to him with a nod. "Okay..." She says plainly, a bit interested in hearing about something other than math and fighting demons, for once. She rests her elbows on the table, leaning forward, and her cheeks in her hands, idly swinging her feet, as she looks to him intently, listening for his world's explanation.

"Where I was born, there are green fields and most everyone is a farmer. It was . . . it still is a peaceful place. My friend Winry makes mechanical limbs for people who've lost theirs - it's called automail, and there's one city that's full of automail sellers. And our greatest science is alchemy," he adds, proudly. "I'm an alchemist, and so is my brother."

Kagome blinks, eyeing him now in a bit of curiosity, surprise, and interest. "...Alchemy? You mean that mumbo-jumbo stuff people tried during the early scientific centuries? But...none of it worked, right?"

"In my world, it did."

Al takes a plastic straw from the bar, claps his hands, and transfigures it into a little plastic flower. He holds it out to Kagome - it even has a delicate stem.

"It's the science of transmuting matter. It's quite possible, in my world."

pose blinks with a soft blush in her cheeks as her fingers reach for the flower, then glances back up to the, uh...armor helmet?

She pulls her thoughts back after a moment, trying to fade her blush, and looks back to him, curious. "...So, people can really change lead into gold and things like that?"

"It's illegal, but yes. It's one of the forbidden uses of alchemy."

Kagome shifts in her seat slightly, leaning forward again, as she seems to stare off into thought...right at his chestplate. "...Well, that makes sense, I guess..." she murmurs softly in thought, not thinking on where her eyes are resting.

Al, for his part, doesn't notice anything unusual about Kagome's line of vision.

"Still, it's a very useful science. A lot of high-ranking officials in the army are state alchemists - like my brother."

Al breaks off, and peers at Kagome. She's staring a bit thoughtlessly. "Are you all right?"

She blinks and glances up to the helmet again. "...Huh? Oh, yeah..." she says with a bit of a laugh in her voice, sitting back in her seat and slipping her hands to her lap. "Sorry, I guess I just kind of zoned out there..."

And, mun is dashing off, being dragged away with the promise of free food...Will be back in about an hour, if not sooner... ^_^*
