Cain sits at a table near the back door, watching the snow. it hasnt turned really nasty yet, but, if experience means anything, it looks like it will. He wonders how long it will last and if he will be around to see it when it is calm again. Musing, he drinks his beer and watches the night.

Molly spots him there, and brings her tea over to his table.

"Want some company?

She grins and returns the hug, careful not to spill her tea.

"It looks like all the work I helped out with in the garden the other day was all for nothing."

She sits beside him, and relaxes back into her chair.

"I just sort of wandered outside, and they were all out there digging and planting...I just sort of rolled up my sleeves and pitched in. It was fun. Better than going back to kick that tree, like I'd originally planned."

"I'm sorry. That must be hard," she says. "It's just not the same, enjoying the results of someone else's work, is it?"

"I took a leaf out of your book and went exploring around outside, a bit," she tells him brightly, more than happy to shift the subject away from something that might be painful.

She smiles at the memory. "Not as such," she says. "You'll have to point out another some time when the weather gets bit more subdued."

She glances out at the storm.

"I found a really great tree for climbing. The view was great! For about ten seconds."

"Guessed it in one," she says with a rueful smile. "Getting down was a lot faster than climbing up."

"Oh, yes," she assures him, patting his hand in thanks for his concern. "I was pretty banged up when it happened, and the walk back to the bar wasn't fun... but I got my broken arm mended, and then the next day my friend Magius fixed all of the bruises and scrapes."

She chuckles at the memory in retrospect.

"I'll definitely be more careful next time. Maybe take someone with me to make sure I'm paying better attention, or to at least cart me back."

She laughs softly at his sense of humor.

"I might take you up on that," she says. "But for now, it doesn't look fit for man nor beast out there. It's bizarre weather for this time of year. I thought about going out in it earlier, but it's gotten worse."

"Mmmhmm," she agrees, smiling into her teacup. "I wonder if any of the rooms have fireplaces. I just got a new one a little while ago, and haven't even been up to see it yet. Maybe I should exchange my key for a room with a nice fire."

[identity profile] mollyprewett.livejournal.com 2006-03-14 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't turn one down," she says with her own quirky smile. "And if there are no rooms with fireplaces, I could always make a temporary one. It might not be as hot as a real fire, but it could be just as cozy."

She holds up her wand before sticking it in her pocket and draining her cup.

"It's always nice to see you, Cain," she answers, getting to her feet herself.

"Now where did I put that key that Bar gave me?"

She pats her pockets until she finds it and holds it up with a smile.

"Now I've only to trade it in and take my things up."

[identity profile] mollyprewett.livejournal.com 2006-03-14 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Molly nods, and approaches the bar. She puts a hand and her key on her surface and says quietly, "Bar? Could I request a room with a fireplace, please? In exchange for the key I got earlier?"

Her old key seems to melt into the surface of the glossy wood as it disappears. A new key appears in it's place, but strangely enough, it's the same room number.

"Huh," she says, smiling at Cain. "Either the room already had one, or She added one for me. Let me just make sure I have my things..."

She pats her pockets again, and nods.

"I've got everything," she says.

She smiles when she spots the wine and blanket, and leads the way upstairs.
