*Meg's sitting at a booth in the bar, with a fire extinguisher well within her sights.
Theoretically, she's working on a lesson plan.
But every fifteen seconds or so, her eyes dart up, scanning the bar for dancing. Which alas means she has not made much progress on the aforementioned lesson plan.*

"I haven't been downstairs in a few days. Brothel decorating and all. So... am I going to regret it if I ask why you have a fire extinguiusher keeping you company?"

It's a measure of frazzlement that her voice, by this point, doesn't even lower dramatically when she says:* We've got a demon. The entire bar is under this horrible curse -
*- all right, it only lowers dramatically a little.*

Lilly sighs, and waves at a passing waitrat for a drink.
"Okay. Who and what is it this time?"

*After saving at least one person from a decidedly fiery doom, Meg feels she has been responsibly On Duty long enough for one day.*
Songs. Coming out of nowhere, *she adds, glumly.* It's terrifying.
no subject
Lilly changes their order from two glasses of wine to 'And just leave the bottle.'
"Attack tunes? That's like... so wrong. I mean, bursting into flame is bad too, but forced song? That's just cruel."
no subject
And also there are attack waitrats.
no subject
The wine arrives, carried by a waitrat who gets a very suspicious look from Lilly before she tips him and opens the bottle.
"Anything good going on that we could toast to?"
no subject
Meg, meanwhile, lifts her glass and twirls it, thoughtfully.*
- well, we can always toast to us. We're always good to toast to, right?
no subject
"Everybody cheer.
Anything that happens
We're there at the hub"
It's a little more noticeable now.

Better beware,
Girl glitterazi
Up at the bat -
no subject
Knowing what's fair,
Flaunting our moxie
In classy hats -
She breaks off, puzzled.
Does either of us own a hat?
no subject
I'll drink to that.
*She takes another sip, and then lifts her glass again.*
And here's to the girls who play smart -
Aren't they a blast?
no subject
Rushing to their paper
And playing their part,
The large swallow of wine at this point in the song in no way indicates that much of the paper is produced by drinking heavily.
no subject
Floundering at last, *she adds, a little breathlessly, as she desperately tries to prevent her wineglass from spilling.*
Another long exhausting day
Another shiny project -
no subject
A well-timed jest, an epic quest
To fetch Important Objects
no subject
*Meg has now stabilized her wineglass, and takes another sizeable gulp, before reaching over to tweak Lilly's hat.*
And one for projects!
no subject
And here's to the girls who play life --
Aren't they too much?
no subject
Straining still to follow
The latest in strife -
Just to keep in touch.
no subject
The ones with wounds in their head
Who take the living to bed
Too crazy to know that they're dead.
no subject
Aren't they a gem?
I'll drink to them!
*She empties the glass, in one long gulp, and sets it down so hard on the table that it jangles; a passing waitrat quietly pours her another.*
no subject
She stares down at a bit in the wooden floor that looks rather like a bride's cross.
And here's to the girls who've moved on--
Weren't they the best?
no subject
Guess we failed the test.
*Meg laughs, again, but there's not much humor in it.*
Another loss, another day -
no subject
Another thing we'll never say,
Another glass of wine for-
She forcibly stops herself from singing by emptying the rest of her wine glass and holding it out for a refill.
no subject
I'll drink to that.
no subject
So here's to the girls on the go--
Everybody tries.
