So, say there's an iPod. An iPod that insists on always playing the same song over and over and over.
And say the song is something annoying like 'Bill Me Up Buttercup.' (Or, if you like that song, the most annoying song you can possibly think of.)
Then you may understand why Kit is sitting at a table fighting with his iPod in the Speech.
"Please. Stop playing that song. Spare me."

She shouldn't be able to understand the Speech, not really.

But she is still irritated at the distraction. It shouldn't stick out in a bar like this but it's somehow distinctive, perhaps because she doesn't understand it.
Closing the book as it's more likely then not that she is just frustrated with the difficulty of learning Ogham.
Offering a corgial smile, "Hi. What seems to be the problem?" as the fighting with it is obvious enough.

"It's just hell-bent on annoying me, s'all. Won't turn off or stop playing this stupid song."
no subject
"Oh, that would be a problem." she thinks, "Where did you get it?"

A crazy iPod in a bad mood, but still an iPod.

Hey, it's technology. Like a magnet, for this guy.

"That explain anything?" he says, weakly. "It's stuck on repeat and doesn't feel like dealing."
no subject
"My sympathies."
no subject
The iPod, clearly in a bad mood, turns up its own volume and blares louder.
no subject
"Did that just operate its own controls?"
no subject
That's a bad habit, chewing on your own lip. But Kit does it anyway.
"Yeah, I think. Wizardry kinda leaks around my house a lot."

Duh, Manny.

...Technology from her time and place. Alternate dimensions couldn't have iPods, after all.
She notes the frustration with it, and quickly relates. "Need help?"
no subject
But Kit's still willing to share the trial.
"You be nice to other people, okay?" he explains in the Speech to the iPod, which doesn't react at all, because it's not speaking to Kit right now.

The mun's had that happen enough that she figures Max probably has too, as much as she loves that thing.
She looks a little confused by his talking to the iPod, but takes it at face value: talking in a language she doesn't know to inanimate objects. Not like she's never done it.
"Can I see?"
no subject
Pause, as he hands the iPod over.
"-- I'm not crazy. I'm a wizard."
no subject
"Oooo, do you play Quidditch too?"
She's grinning as she looks over the iPod, checking all the settings. Her own'd be with her to compare it to, but it was recharging when she got bound.
no subject
So even if they do have Harry Potter in his 'verse, he probably wouldn't know much about it.
"... what's Quidditch?"
no subject
"It's a wizard's game, or so Angie told me."
She thinks for a moment.
"She's from Britain, though, so maybe it's only played there?"
Possible explination. She'd certainly never heard of it before, despite living on the same planet in about the same year. It hasn't occured to her yet that they might just be from planets with the same name and numbering system.
[ooc=Sorry for the repost, I wanted to clarify something.]

To Kit, different planets and different planes would all make just about the same (very clear) amount of sense.
"One way to find out anyway. Manual? If you would?"
The dog-eared hardcover on the table by Kit opens and turns its pages about, then shuts, defeated.
"... well, that limits the possibilities."
[Don't mind at all.]
