[the last week or so of Delia's afterlife has proven to be very, very interesting and not, ultimately, in a good way]

[bewarned, then, those who might wish to talk to her. The lady is annoyed, and prone to snapping]

[this is not to say, however, that she doesn't want to talk to people, merely that the bitch!risk factor has gone up]

[dramatically]

Nearly two years, give or take a few months.

"Have you been here that entire time?"

he smiles.

"And please tell me if I ask too many questions, I have been told I am entirely too curious for my own good."

Only a problem if you mind the answers. And no, I haven't. I went back for my trial.

"I never mind answers. Truth and it's relations are my goal. Finding answers is soemthing I strive for, in addition to helping people."

He nods again.

"What was it for? The trial?"

Just a little case of high treason.

"Ah... that must have been unpleasant for you, to say the least. My sympathies. It sounds like an entirely unlikeable way to spend time in one's home world."

The actual trial was fun. The waiting in the cell wasn't.

"Oh? Why was the trial fun? And I am not entirely fond of smal caged myself, having been held in a few in my time."

[she's getting better at the mention of cages, her fingers just tighten]

Because it is always entertaining to watch old men's faces change when you refuse to play the script.

One his back and his side and his fingers, small scars persist, echoes of time in a too small cage in the burning sun, for days. Scars not wiped out by a new body, for his soul never let go of that dark hour.

He grins at her words.

"Bravo to you, then... and good. Those in power should never grow used to gettignt hings their way. It makes them arrogant."

[She has scars on her back, too. Not mention two-day old cuts from a knife...

But she asked for them. Begged, sometimes.]

[a dimpled smile]

Exactly.

He smiles.

"Might I ask what you do here?"

Courtesan and Accountant.

"Do you enjoy it?"

I do, actually.

"Then I wish you good health in it."

he eyes her, and grins.

"Would it be an insult to ask if you are good at them?"

No...but it would be an insult to disbelieve me when I say I am.

He gives her a bow.

"Then I shall believe you."

He smiles.

"Do you do accounts on consignment for others, or is it your own work?"

For all of us Delicate Flowers, actually.

"Delicate Flowers?"

yeah, he missed all the fuss.

Madame Lilly's.

There is some blinking.

"Hmm. I dont think I have met her, or heard of it. "

He shrugs.

"Not something I am interested in anyway."

he smiles.

"What I was getting at earlier however, was to ask if you ever take on jobs as an accountant for other than whatever your primary was..."

[she regards him, thoughtfully]

I would be interested once I organize things. I've only just started, so a few weeks?

"It isnt urgent. My accouns are small, just... unorganized. I am rather... not great at money."

he spreads his hands helplessly.

[Delia nods]

Organizing is the first thing. If you could get the information, I could easily look it over for you at least.
