Charlie is curled up in a booth with a good view of the observation window. He's holding his guitar like a security blanket.

Tie him to the bed until you work out which one he is? Get drunk? I'm...not with the helpful tonight.

Charlie smiles and sips. "I'd rather keep the tying for more pleasant times.

"Meantime--" He raises his glass.

Maybe I'm cynical.

[she admits, clinking her glass agaisnt his]

"Cynicism has its place.

"It's very easy to tell which is which, actually. Darien loves me and loves to cuddle. This--person--thinks I'm an annoying little shite, at the very least."

Yeeeah. But. Possesion.

"Well, the unprovoked rages aren't any fun."

The what now?

"This Simon-person living in his head is very violent and very angry."

Charlie...

"Delia," he says in a steady tone.

[she just sighs, and drinks again]

M'worried, now.

"I can look after myself," he mutters.

"Can't you ask Lilly to make you the full-time accountant?"

Not really. Contract and...I don't think she would. Just a feeling.

"'s a pity." He scowls at his beer. "Should do things you like."

Oh, I like sex. And flirting. I just...like doing something different.

"Anybody can have sex. Most people can flirt. Keeping accounting books--that takes skill."

Yeah, but it's a bit hard to deal with your employer when your employer is most likely sleeping with your ex-boyfriend. Ex-boyfriend who vanished for four months after you dumped him, and was tortured.

Just a little bit difficult, Charlie-O.

Charlie Eyebrows.

"That's an interesting wrinkle."

Aye.

Just a little.

"Does she think you want your ex back?"

Nope.

Just that I drove him away.

"Huh." He frowns.

Yep. Fun times.

[another drink]

"Have you talked to the ex at all? It's not that Roger bloke, is it?"

Haven't seen him in months. Roger, I mean. Not Indy.

And, aye, I have. We were on the verge of fighting, but somehow it ended okay.

"Indy . . . indeed." Who will, unfortunately, always to him be associated with the news of Delia's death. But that's another issue.

He sighs and shakes his head. "I don't know, love. Maybe Lilly won't find another accountant and you'll be the permanent . . . temporary. One."

[she laughs]

Maybe! All problems solved, then.

"Yeah, there you go. Just hope that everybody else is incompetent."

[nope, she's just giggling now]

It'd be nice.

"It would." He nods in agreement and sips more beer.

And if not...

You were teaching me the piano, no?

"I seem to remember that. Want a lesson?"

Please.

"C'mon." He jerks his head to the piano. "Let's make some music."
