Post breakfast shifts are decidedly more fun than the graveyard pre-breakfast shift. For a start, there's a little less tiredness, but as there's more people around, it's also a lot less boring.

Not that Mel tolarates boring for long. Take now, for instance. Your Security officer for the morning is in a section of open floor by the observaton window, attempting to build a house of cards. It's a training exercise, see? Steady hands, all that toy.

She's not as good as it as she'd like.

"I have no idea," Mel admits. "Maybe because no one asks him to cook ancient artefacts."

Fear if they did, really.

"Oh. Point."

Lilly has more coffee.

"They should. He could make artifact cookies. And like, sell them at the museum bake sales. Oatmeal raisin Arks of the Covenant!"

Lilly may not have had enough coffee.

Mel would grin. But inatead she eyes Lilyl as if she's gone mad.

"Baked by Indy?"

Lilly waves away her (admittedly valid) concern.

"After Mikey'd taught him to cook, of course. And then he'd just keep getting better with practice."

[slayer_fray]

"Practice?" Mel says drily.

"You know what happens when people practice baking? They make their family taste the results!"

[awesome_lilly]

"Crap. You're right."

Lilly sighs.

"It was such a good plan, too," she says mournfully. "Also now I'm kinda hungry for oatmeal raisin cookies."

[slayer_fray]

"Mikey," Mel assures her. "Mikey will bake us cookies. He'll even do an Ark of the Covenant if we ask nicely."

"Of course, Mikey."

Lilly drains the rest of her coffee.

"So, um, you mind if this cookie-baking doesn't happen this particular weekend?"

[slayer_fray]

"I have cookies on demand all the time," Mel points out, but tilts her head anyway. "No. Why?"

[awesome_lilly]

"I'm thinking I'm going to hang out on Serenity this weekend," Lilly replies.

"Mal invited me, I figure I can beg another flying lesson off of Wash, I've owed Kaylee a sleepover for ages, and of course there's Jayne."

She grins.

"But yeah, just some fun time away from bar while they're running the tests and all."

Mel nods. She approves of this plan, as it gets Lilly away from scary stalkers.

"Anything I can do?"
