Wells comes in from the back door, a large black and white Malamute at his heels. The dog may look familiar to people who know Zuko at all, or then again, maybe not. She usually looks happier than this.
He stops at the Bar to get himself breakfast and the dog a bowl of something decent to eat, then looks around for a spot to sit.

At anyrate she doesn't look particularly perky today. Rather she looks tired almost like she has been beaten up. Having taken a seat at the bar she notices Sergeant Wells when he comes by, "Morning." she greets him. THough it was night for her she saw the sun was up when he came in.

"How have you been?" and noticing the dog she reaches down to let him smell her, "Who's this?"

Nodding, "Yes. I'll be coming here as long as Bar will have me." she says with a smile, "I'm glad you survived." she says sincerely but looking at him with concern, "How long has it been for you?" again everything about her is more subdued today.

He shrugs, reaching for his tea. "About two years now," he says neutrally. "Most of it spent keeping busy. I'm told it wasn't that long here."

"I've been written off as dead by most of the Army, and the rest of 'em are hunting me down like a dog," he answers. "Bet you'd like to get a hand in on that, wouldn't you."

Sipping her smoothie, "Be sure not to contact people that they know you are close to and only use cash." he may already know this but she wants to help and it's all that comes to mind at the moment.

He gives her a long look. "It's been a damned long time since I had to say this last, but: us mere mortals were getting along just fine before helpful busybodies decided to start pokin' their noses into our affairs."

She isn't smiling and she doesn't expect himto take her up on the offer but she makes it all the same.

That's not Zuko.

The dog recognises the girl's smell and makes an ahr-wooor-wooh sort of noise; Malamutes are prone to doing nearly anything but barking. Wells turns at the sound and nods. "Morning, miss," he says.

She was out in it training at dawn, but not at the stables while Ennis is gone, as she's certainly not supposed to be there in any official capacity

The dog just sighs and looks up at the human with an exasperated expression. Warm. bah. Silly hairless types.

"Where's her master, today?" she asks, idly.

"He's gone home," says Wells. "His uncle was here for a bit, then left. Said he was going to find his uncle and then come back here."

The other news is, perhaps, less than fine. Jocasta's smile freezes only slightly. Why should she expect him to say goodbye, after all?
"Oh," she says politely. "Well, I do hope he finds him, then."
no subject
"So do I," says Wells. "He's had a hell of a time lately. Iroh might be able to talk some sense into him where I couldn't."
He doesn't sound like he really believes it, but it's the best he can do.

Just because he likes the kid doesn't mean he doesn't see his behaviour for what it is.

"It must be very hard for him," she says. A rather useless excuse, maybe, but something tells her she should try and defend him a little. "It's a terrible thing."
The whole situation, what she knows of it.
