Kitt had the newspaper in front of him when he walked in, thus why he didn't notice he was in the bar until he was in the bar. A few blinks and he realised where he was - and immediately turned to go back to the door, starting, "Michael, I found the--" But the door had closed, and he knew that if he left, the bar probably wouldn't be there when he turned back.

He'd have to keep checking the door, to see if he could haul his partner in.

Until then, he figured he could have a tall, cold soda and enjoy the paper, and possibly the company.

"Sashibure, Kitt-san." 95 bustles up with her usual bright mood, albeit a little bit dimmed from the past.

"Ninety-five," Kitt greeted, smiling, warm. "It's been quite a while since I've seen you." But he did see the change. "How are you?"

"I'm functioning well," she answers, in the OS equivalent of "fine." "Is everything going well for you?"

"Well enough," he agreed, nodding. "A few troubles here and there, but those, I've found, are normal. Though I admit, I am beginning to think that Devon will get antsy soon and try to call Michael and I back from our vacation."

My, wasn't he glowing a little.

But then, he... knew, and he glanced around the bar. No, there still was no trace of his brother. The one with wings.

"I'd hoped to get here sooner, but the door always has its own ideas."

She nods. "I wonder... who it is that controls it all. Is it God, do you think?"

"I don't know," Kitt admitted with a shrug. "But I do believe there is a God."

He took in a tight breath, lifting his glass as the inevitable thought follows, and is muttered, toward the liquid - "Not sure if I'm worthy of Him, though." - before he drinks.

"Oh, no, you shouldn't think that sort of thing!" She clasps his hand quickly. "Kitt-san is a good person!"

It was a good thing he could swallow before that quick movement got him. He... still had a slight thing about those, but he caught it soon enough. "It isn't that," he said, placating. "I promise you that isn't my reasoning at all. I've..."

He sighed. "God created humans. Humans created computers, programs. I don't know enough to really base an opinion - that's where the real difficulty comes in."

"So desu ne..." She nods. "It is a little bit difficult, isn't it? I was told I have a soul... but it seems strange."

"Michael insists I have a soul," Kitt agreed, "but I'm still trying to decide the matter. And I pray at times, but I ... can't help prefacing it with 'if I'm worthy of Your attention' or the like..."

The statement carried a guilty smile.

"I wonder if there's someone here we could ask... I'm sure it would help clear a few things up." She frowns. "I've never had to think about this sort of thing before, really."

Then, bending down, "Ano, Nezumi-nee-san? Osake, o-negai shimasu."

Sake?

He looked at her curiously and silently hoped she didn't expect him to partake. His alcohol tolerance was pitiful bordering on pathetic.

"I'm sure there's someone that we could ask," he agreed, "but heaven knows who. I've heard there are incarnations of Satan in the bar, but I've yet to hear of an incarnation of God. And yet, of the two, I don't know if I'd trust either. I know what Q does for fun."

"Kyu?" Nine? Huhwha?

The sake arrives, and she accepts with a smile. "Would you like some?"

"Kitt." KARR drove up to his brother and stopped a few feet away, his scanner flickering steadily back and forth. There was no real warmth in his voice-but on the other hand, he wasn't snarling, either. "I hadn't been expecting you."

"I hadn't been expecting the bar, either," said Kitt, glancing up from his paper. For just a moment, anyway.

The last he'd known, he and his brother weren't exactly on the best of terms.

"Hello, Karr."

"You weren't coming here on purpose, I assume." His voice was still flat, lacking in any hostility or care. "You don't need to look for Bonnie any longer, if that's what you've been up to. She's been here."

"Devon wouldn't tell me, anyway," Kitt exhaled. "All he gave me was 'No, my dear boy, I don't know where she's gotten to,' which I could tell was a lie."

"Mm. So helpful, isn't he?" He snorted to himself, his scanner flaring briefly. "She's been here for some time."

"Good," Kitt exhaled. "Very good. I've hoped she's been all right, and I know you'll take care of her here."

"Of course I will," he said, sounding a little miffed. "Of course, the fact that no idiotic women with guns ahve bothered us also helps..."

He chuckled. "Oh yes. The lack of guns is always a plus, and a definite advantage in vacation location."

"I wouldn't call it a vacation so much as just an escape from her sabbatical. How much longer do you plan to put with that redheaded bimbo?"

"I told her during our last case that her job was on the line. She gets a few more chances, and then I'm firing her." He decided it, plain and simple. She was going to be fired. The only question that now remained was when.

His response actually earned a chuckle from KARR. "A few chances, and you're still going to fire her. That ought to be a nice ego blow for the...well, I wouldn't call her a girl. More like an ambulatory chest with some other things tacked on."

Kitt tried not to make his satisfaction at Karr's description obvious. It was... half successful.

"Quite," he agreed in a mutter instead, smirking at the edge of his glass. "She's already erred too many times, but... It's almost schadenfreude, perhaps coupled with masochism and a touch of sadism. I want to see how badly she can really do, as long as it isn't truly harmful."
