And there’s a Sands sat a few tables away, leafing idly through the pages of a book with a distracted air, feet on the chair opposite him and a frown on his face.

So she starts sketching hime, smiling to herself as she tries to get the expression on his face right, the curve of his fingers. Going for the little details.

Apparently, whatever page he was searching for has been found, as Sands settles back with a satisfied expression. Rubs a thumb across his bottom lip, engrossed.

He's moving. This makes him difficult to sketch. But, now he looks rather sweet, and she giggles to herself as she draws.

And that catches Sands’ attention.

He glances up, frown deepening and then fading into a flicker of a smile. Lowers the book.

“Are you drawing me?”

"Yup."

Tongue between her teeth, shades in a portion of his hair.

Raises the book again with a snort of laughter and a murmured, “Have fun with that.”

His eyes are fixed on the page, but it’s possible they’re not moving.

"I am. You're fun to draw."

Squints at the drawing, then him, then back at the drawing.

“Right.”

His lips quirk, all pretence of reading gone as he watches her out of the corner of his eye.

"Not kidding."

Absently, as she tries to get the curve of his eyes right.

“I’m sure.”

Eyes back to the book, tracing a finger up and down the spine.

"What book?"

Peering over, intrigued.

“Greek mythology.”

A shrug, smirking.

“Bar gave it to me.”

A grin.

"How is it, any good?"

“Long, meandering, weird as shit.”

He snorts, licks his finger and turns a page.

“Just like I remember them.”

"Could I see, maybe?"

She doesn't read so well, but well enough to take a look.

“Sure thing.”

He deliberately marks his page and holds the book out. Not going to move though; she’ll have to come get it herself, if she wants it.

She does, sliding off the stoll and coming over, picking up the book and dropping into a chair, turning it over in her hands.

"Huh."

Opens a page at random, finger marking her spot, a look of concentration as she mouths the words to herself.

And the book is carefully prised from her fingers and turned the other way up. The right way up, to be precise.

“I hear it’s easier like this,” he remarks lightly, handing it back. His gaze is fixed very firmly on the rafters as he tries not to laugh.

She blinks, then looks away for a second.

"...yeah. Okay. Thanks."

“Any time, princess.”

Eyes still very firmly on the rafters- Oh look! A cobweb. How exciting.

"Um."

She looks at the book for a moment or two, then looks down.

"...willyoureadtome?""

Blink.

“What?”

"Will you read to me?"

Still not looking at him.

“Uh.”

Rubs the back of his neck, frowning.

“I guess.”
