(no subject)

Coffee, for Silvia, suffices when alcohol is inconvenient. It is inconvenient now, because drinking liquor, regardless how light, will bring questions she doesn't want to answer. She's at the bar, hands wrapped around the mug, elbows slumped and eyelids heavy--which, to everyone else, makes her look tired. Hence the coffee, right?

Parker steps up to the bar and knocks on it lightly. "Beer?" he asks, sounds like he's wheedling, really.

"Oh, come on, good beer, good conversation, the inevitable alcohol-induced sleep."

[ooc: no prob, :)]

"Well," Parker shrugs. "Beer for me then."

He waits until it's delivered, uncapped and says, "Long day?"

"Working on what?" He sips his beer, spins a little on the stool.

Parker snorts, covers it and says, mock-seriously. "I'm so sorry. That must suck. What were you looking for?"

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"A very dangerous venture." He nods. "What kind of books?"

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Parker laughs, "Stubborn friends. Been there." His smile is sympathetic. "Why Chile?"

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Parker shrugs. He's never been much for history. "Did you get anything?" he asks, instead.

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"A very honorable duty," he says. "Many good men and women have gone before you."

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
"They led a hard life, but someone had to."

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Good." Parker grins and there's something truly happy in his smile. "There's this... thing and it worked out so far. So. Good."

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Romance," he says eventually. "Is in the air. Spring."

He's still smiling.

Parker raises his eyebrows and says, mock reserved, "Do I seem like the type of boy that kisses and tells?"

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
"True," Parker says. "Very true."

Leaning forward he says, "Lawrence." Leans back and drinks some of his beer. Suddenly, surprisingly, he looks a little upset. "But, it's new. So," waves a hand that could mean anything from don't tell to I don't know how long he'll put up with me.

Parker shrugs. "You don't know him?" He says, "Blonde? British?"

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Parker frowns, a little puzzled. "How do you know him?"

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
"No?" Parker raises an eyebrow. "What's he famous for?"

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Parker shrugs non-committaly. He hasn't heard of a lot of stuff that involve anything resembling a good education.

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Parker snickers, hides it and says, "Thanks and... Without messing with the hero worship," leans in so that he's whispering in her ear, "very good as a lover."

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Parker takes the hint and grins, pulling back into his own area on the bar. He finishes off his beer.

"I should get going."

[identity profile] misterparker.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
"You weren't," he says. "Wouldn't keep coming around if you were."

Stepping off the stool he says, "Next time, I'll bring the sleepiness, and you can bring the alcohol."

Nods and is off.
