She pats him on the back. "It'll all work out. There are worse things in life than ex-fiancee's."

"Yeah. Like getting a play on stage. While your ex-fiance is in town. And while your best friend is...well. That's something worse."

"Is he sleeping with her?" Anna wrinles her nose. "Dude. You should hit him. You really don't even have to have a reason."

"Christ, no! He's trying to put a 25 foot ape on a Broadway stage!"

Anna bursts out laughing. "Oh my God. See, now you aren't as worried about the ape are you?"

She snorts. "I'm so sorry."

"I wish. I...I got a bad feeling about that damn ape."

"Well yeah. It's going to like...escape or something. It's a giant ape. On Broadway!" She looks incredulous. "Not exactly and ideal habitat."

"Yeah. Exactly."

THEY HAVE NO CLUE HOW RIGHT THEY ARE. Unless she saw his canon. That would be cheating.

She may have seen the really old version. She DIED before the new canon came out. KTHNX.

"So...good luck with that one. I don't even know where to begin. All I can say is...don't. Can your friend be stopped?"

Pity. Now she'll think Jack is a misogynistic sailor-slash-idiot who thinks WOODEN CHAIRS are good weapons against GIANT APE HANDS.

"No. Everyone except the people who've actually dealt with the ape, and Carl, think the thing's going to be a huge smash. Financial smash."

"Unless something goes terribly wrong and the ape stays calm."

"How likely is that?" Anna looks at him, head tilted.

"About as likely as a sudden economic recovery."

"Yeah. So good luck. Don't die. Or anything." Anna sighs.

"Thanks. I'll try not to."
