Normally when these two talk, it's the gardener counselling and comforting the musician.

Odd to see it the other way around. But there are times even a god needs to vent.

Jack closes his eyes.

"I would not place you in such danger."

[lvpd_sidle]

"I know. But the urge to protect family goes both ways."

[jack_inthegreen]

He smiles wearily. "I know. But you must understand--she's more powerful than any being I've encountered, more devious, more dangerous, and when I look at her all I see is decay."

[lvpd_sidle]

"I know."

She could see that much on his face. And Jack does not lie.

"So you see, don't you, that I want my family nowhere near here. And my family is . . . well. Everyone."

[lvpd_sidle]

"Not all of us have that choice. I didn't mean to come here tonight." She shrugs. "And the door appeared.

"But I can promise to be gone from here when it all goes down, assuming you can get out a warning."

[jack_inthegreen]

He nods. "We may. I'm going to send Charlie to Las Vegas to tell you to stay away, if we do."

Charlie nods, solemn.

[lvpd_sidle]

"I'll keep an eye out, and I know Gil will as well."

[jack_inthegreen]

"Yes." He sighs. "I think I may welcome winter. A chance to rest . . ."

[lvpd_sidle]

"Understandable. But we will miss you."

[jack_inthegreen]

He leans his head on his hands, smiling a tired smile. "I will miss all of you, too. My awareness is . . . less, during the winter."
