"Guess it's kinda inevitable, eh? And people would be really shocked if I had a quiet wedding, yeah?"

"You could have a good Catholic ceremony, if you wanted. Those tend to be rather low-key."

"How many priests can you think of that would marry two men," he says in a practical tone.

"Well...not many. But I'm sure there are some. It was done in ancient times and all that."

"We could do it small here. Or a registry office back in London."

"You could. Or even do the registry office and then meet up back here for a bit."

Charlie nods, grinning. "That's sounding good. Quiet civil ceremony . . . big bash at the bar."

"Aye, that way the personal stuff stays private, and the celebration's less formal."

More nodding. "Yeah. Yeah. Think they'll let us write our own vows, though? I'd kinda lie to do that. Or maybe we could just do toasts here . . ."

"I think they'll let you write your own vows or at least say them after." He smirks. "And you know David and I will come up with toasts for the both of you."

"Yeah . . . David."

Whoo boy.

He's not looking forward to that conversation.

He blinks a bit...and the realisation dawns.

"Oh...yeah...that'll be a bit rough, won't it?"

"Just a bit." He plays with his ring.

He hugs Charlie again.

"He's with Loki now, and he loves you and Darien both. He wants you to be happy."

"I know . . ." He leans his head on Richard's shoulder. "And two years ago I just wasn't ready, and I think he knows that."

He nods. "He does. I think he knows he moved too fast for you. Vampires tend to get a bit excited that way."

He scrubs his fingers through Richard's hair and kisses the top of his head. "Yeah. And seven months isn't exactly rushing it, is it."

"Maybe for some, but it doesn't matter if it's not rushing things for you and Darien."

He brushes a kiss across Charlie's temple and pours more Scotch for them both.

"Doesn't feel like rushing," he says quietly. "Feels . . . good. Feels just right."

He smiles softly.

"Then it's probably right."

"Yeah." He clinks his glass against Richard's and drinks. "Can't wait to tell Liam. He's going to laugh . . ."

"I think he'll be happy for you. It's got to be a hell of a lot better than being on that island."

"I get laid a lot more," Chrlie says mildly. "That's a definate plus."

"Well, yeah. Sand's a dreadful hindrance to that sort of thing."

"What's this now? Hindrance to getting laid? How do I avoid it?"
