It's one of those posts.

There's a spoilerific and mildly tipsy Desmond in a booth, sketching something that might be a snowglobe, only that's silly, right?

Another booth has a Hawkeye, with a glass of scotch and a newspaper from home -- it's amazing what Bar'll give you.

At a table by the noticeboard is Wes, copying English words from the various signs and seeing how much he can translate without checking the primer. (Answer: not many. Rose is watching from the next table over, smirking slightly at each mistake. It's great being able to read anything. Yay TARDIS!)

Ben's at the Bar with a chocolate milkshake -- that's not changed after three years, apparently. He's stealing occasional curious glances at an uneasy man nearby, though: Fi's wandered in wearing his off-duty clothes and without his brothers, but he figured he'd have a glass of fruit juice anyway. (And why not, eh?)

"A well-justified ego," Desmond says, though with his mouth full. Possibly this just adds extra emphasis though.

"Made these y'self then, aye? I've not had proper home-cooked food in three years. Knew I was missing out on something."

She laughed then, shaking her head, "I make many things out of cornmeal, corncakes are the least of it. Duck here was made of cornmeal at first."

She smiled more broadly, "Home-cooking is something everyone should have from time to time, just to remind them where home really is."

"Aye, well, not much of it at home and even less in the hatch."

Desmond finishes the last chunk of it -- turns out he was hungry after all, then.

He nods thoughtfully at that, and drifts off a little into his own head. But he says, "Too right. Helps if you know where that is though, to be sure."

She shrugged, "S'why I tend to bring it here, when I get the itch to cook." She smiled, "Always someone around here who needs it, often more than one."

"Sure it's appreciated, too," he says, still thoughtful.

Then he finally sits up a little straighter and flashes a quick grin before folding up his sketchpad and tucking his pencil into his shirt pocket.

"I'd better go -- boat won't sail the way I want it to itself. Nice meetin' you though, sister."
