Piper’s outside sitting on the grass, staring at the lake. If you look it’s obvious that something happened to her: her clothes look faintly singed and the ends of her hair look..well..crispy. She doesn’t seem to have noticed.

She wouldn't mind company.

"A witch.

Specifically, a Charmed One."

"Charmed one? What's that?"

"The Charmed Ones were prophesied about for many generations. Three sisters: one with the power to see the future, one to freeze and accelerate time, and the last to move objects with her mind. Combined together they're the most powerful witches our world has ever seen." She says this almost like it's been rehearsed. Or if she's heard it often.

Thoughtfully, "Although three sisters turned out to be four. Of course we didn't know that until after Prue died."

She gives a sympathetic nod. "Sounds important. Is it at least fun to have as much responsibility as that sounds like it does? Or just a complicated mess?"

"I was perfectly happy without all the responsiblity.
And it's very complicated. As soon as you think you've got it figured out, something new comes along."

There's a small chuckle. She didn't mean for it to be out loud, not really.

"I don't think that it's a witch thing. Life can be life that in general. Just when you think you know what your going to do with your life, or your day the universe throws you a curve ball and you're knocked off track."

"That's possible.
I've never had the opportunity to separate the two - not really."

She gives a small curious tilt of her head.

"So, genetic trait then?"

A nod.
"From my mother, grandmother and so on."

"Must be nice to at least be able to give a special genetic trait down to children."

No, that's not a small amount of wistfulness. Why do you ask?

"My sons are very powerful, as I imagine my sisters' children will be."

"Powerful is usually a good thing. Means that they'll be able to protect themselves when the time comes that they have to."

"It can also be dangerous.

My oldest can shield himself and those around him from harm, but he was also supposed to become the most powerful force of evil the world had ever seen.
Fortunatly I think we've changed that now.

Do you have any children?"

"Wow. So, now he'll be the most powerful force of good?

No. I don't, and never will."

Her head tilts a bit, causing her hair to fall over her face a bit.

"I don't know for certain-"

Piper leans forward towards Elizabeth just a little bit, her face and voice is full of gentle concern.
"Are you okay, honey?"

She gives a faint smile.

"I just don't ever think I'll be happy with the fact that I can't have kids. Not that I want them know, but there used to always be that some day aspect to it."

"Why can't you?"

"Infected with lycanthropy. And we have to shift on the full moon, no if, ands, or buts, and the shift is to hard on our bodies to keep with child through it."

She frowns.

"Werewolf?" Trying to understand.

"Wereleopard. In my world, we have more speices than just werewolves."

Ah! The lightbulb goes off!

"I guess that would make it difficult to parent.."
Thoughtful pause. "Do you adopt children on your world?"

"Not that I know of. We're shunned out of jobs like teacher and doctor, I'm sure there's a block for adopting children because of what we are as well."

Piper frowns. "That's not right. If your world is anything like mine werewolves are crazy for, you know, three days a month and sane for the rest.
I'm bitchy for three days a month, only for me it's called PMS. They let ME have kids."

That earns a grin. "We don't always have control over our emotions the first couple months after the change, and we don't remember what we do when we shift for those months. Which is why we have more experienced people to look over the new ones. Though, we aren't exactly crazy once we learn to control our beasts.

Once we have expierence, we can be as gental as a house cat, or dog. People just seem to freak out about how easy it is to catch lycanthropy when we're shifted."

"Well, okay, so they could control WHEN you get to adopt, but blocking it out entirely seems dramatic."
