Sitting at the bar, Mara Jade Skywalker stares at her cup of caf, dressed in a robe and fluffly slippers. Someone couldn't sleep again. He doesn't exsist.

And a little ways over, sits Inyri Forge, eating a peice of rhyscate carefully, while scribbling something out on a datapad.

And a little ways over from her, is a former holostar, one Baroness Syal Fel is staring out at the exploding universe over her glass of wine.

Come and poke them. Yay poking.

Logan nods. "Yeah. It's weird to feel lucky for that, isn't it? And at the same time, so not lucky at all."

Because sometimes, maybe it would be nice to be nothing, as opposed to the most popular episode of Tinseltown Diaries ever.

"Yeah. I mean...I wouldn't be me without him. I would never have met my husband or gotten married or had my son...anything."

"That's quite a lot of stuff to owe someone," Logan says. "I'd have been the same, I guess. He's the reason we moved to Neptune, and I'd never have met my best friend, my first love, or Veronica Mars."

If he were a different sort of guy, Logan might wonder if possibly fate had a hand in this, might wonder if, circumstances being different, things would have turned out much the same, but he's not a philosopher, and questions like that don't really interest him.

"Or had a sister, I guess, since he adopted her. Or even exist."

Sobering thoughts, all.

"Tell me about this girl you mentioned. The one who made the jackass comment." Mara smiles.

Logan sighs, and looks genuinely happy, if confused. "Veronica Mars. Girl's in a class of her own. Sharp, funny, and annoying as hell. Plus about yea tall."

Logan holds his fingers about an inch apart, not thinking that, in Milliways, this could be taken literally.

"Oh, like my neice. She's like the size of an Ewok."

Then, realising this IS Milliways, "But not really."

Logan has to laugh, realizing how that could be taken by any place that has tiny people. Elves. Fairies. Whatever. "Yeah, Veronica's like, almost normal person size. And disgustingly hot. And possibly into me. Again."

"Ooooh. You don't want to kill her right?" Mara grins. Then blinks. "We never introduced ourselves. Mara Jade Skywalker."

Logan rolls his eyes. "Yeah, I seem to be doing that a lot lately."

He offers a hand. "Logan Echolls, Neptune, California, Earth, and not dead yet. And no, I don't want to kill her. Not this week, anyway."

"Oh, planets too, huh? Coruscant, more recently Ossus, and not dead yet. Could die in this next war though. Never know." She shrugs. "And not killing is good. If I'd gone through with killing the man I later married...I wouldn't be married."

"Cool names," he says. "I think it's easiest to get all that stuff out of the way so you can get on to more important stuff, you know? And also, not make bad jokes about the dead. They tend to not like that."

Logan gives her an intrigued look. "So what changed your mind? It couldn't be just his good looks, right?"

"Oh, Luke's cute. But, no. I killed his clone. We became good friends. Took us ten years to get married though."

"Killed a clone...became friends...what, you figured the duplicate was enough?" Oh, life is so confusing when you only know half a story.

"You ever hear of the movie Star Wars?" This is so much easier. "Anyway, the Emperor gave me a final command that constantly ran through my head. To kill Luke Skywalker. Killing his clone got rid of that need to kill him. It took me a while to get used to Luke though."

The 'click' as Logan gets it is almost audible. He'd watched the movie years ago, but thought all the kids who got so excited about the new flicks were irredeemable dorks.

"OK, yeah, makes total sense."

Pause.

"Do you have a lightsaber?"

Because no one is immune to that kind of coolness.

Mara pulls her lightsaber out of her robe pocket, igniting it away from them, the purple blade casting a weird glow on them. "Yep. A blaster and a vibroblade too. And yes, I sleep with them under pillows."

"Dude, it's purple," he says in awe. "I thought only the Samuel L. Jackson guy - whatsisface, Mace something - got a purple one. Clearly, you rock."

Just because he's not a fanboy doesn't mean he doesn't know who people were!

"Mace Windu?" Mara says, with slight distaste. "Please. I own the purple lightsaber thing."

"Well, yeah," he says. "And you're totally hotter, so you've got my vote."

Married? Who cares? To flirt is much like to breathe for Logan.

She grins brightly. "Oho. I like you."

Logan beams. "Then I've totally succeeded in my endeavors tonight."

Mara shakes her head, grinning. "You've achieved a rare thing. Usually takes me a couple of meetings to really like someone."

Sans...Valentine. But we won't go there.

Probably not the best place to go tonight, no.

"What can I say? I'm an unusually charming guy."

Or...ever.

"Mmph. Now you're getting cocky. Like Han. Or Lando."

Lando's name is said with a grimace.

Logan raises one eyebrow. "Not a fan of the cocky, huh? I'll try to keep it to a minimum."
