There's a slightly scruffy guy in a kilt sitting on a table near the observation window.

Watching the universe end and grinning.

She doesn't see the grin because she is coming from behind him.

But, she does sense something... very different about him.

"Ionen?" she asks, coming to stand in front of him.

Gorlim refocuses the grin onto her.

"Hullo, nana!" he says cheerfully, grabbing her in a tight hug.

She returns the hug, but pulls back a little.

"You are... different. You feel... different when my mind comes close to yours."

Nerdanel looks him over.

"What has happened, love?"

Gorlim beams at her.

"I'm alive, nana. Alive like REALLY alive! Ellie is, too."

Nerdanel stares at him for a long time.

"How?" she breathes.

"Promise you won't worry?" he asks her. Not that he'd believe whatever answer she gave, so he continues. "Namo did it. Ruin let me die the last night I was with him, and Namo brought me back. Alive."

"... Mandos...?"

She frowns.

"But... it's against the rules. Men... die..."

Not that she isn't pleased Gorlim is still here, now alive and so very happy...

"Gorlim, will he be in trouble for it?"

She doesn't worry about Gorlim.

No, she finds herself unexpectedly worried about the biological father of her son.

Gorlim frowns. "I don't know and he won't tell me. I can only hope he'll let me tag along next time he goes home to bear whatever repercussions are to come beside him."

She sits down next to him.

"He won't. You know he won't risk you."

Of all she knows about Mandos, his devotion to Gorlim and the children was absolute. He'd never allow Gorlim to endure repercussions for a decision the god had made.

"Besides, he has an odd sense about lovers. It's why, I think, he hasn't ever brought you along durning any of the times he's gone through something at the expense of a decision he's made."

"Hello Gorlim, nice skirt!" Asar-Suti said, grinning brightly.

It is difficult to glare and grin at the same time.

Gorlim gives a valient attempt before giving up and pouncing the Purple One.

Asar-Suti tackle-hugs back. "Gorlim! Námo told me! Congratulations on you and your family being alive!"

"Somebody might lift up that skirt and pinch your bottom!"

"Yeah, the only person I can think of doing that would be Random, and I don't see him around right now. And Ramon might kill me if he tried."

Gorlim beams at him.

"I'm ALIVE, Sooty!"

Yeah, Gorlim knows he knows, but he can barely believe it himself.

"In celebration of that," Asar-Suti said, hugging his friend again, "I should almost try the bottom-pinching thing. It's just that the rats would probably..."

"Stalk me again?" Gorlim remembers the FIRST time they started doing that. "Though it was kind of entertaining, in a rather creepy way."

"That's because they're not creepy stalking creatures, but Gil's kitchen rats - majorly cute with their little paws and their pink noses and their whiskers" Asar-Suti laughed, "Even creepy stalking by them ends up entertaining."

Gorlim laughs.

"How's Gil, by the way? I see him less often than I see YOU, which is too infrequently for my taste."

There is Gorlim-clinging.

"Brother!" Gorlim calls back, grinning. "Hullo!"

Rabastan grins back. That smile of Gorlim's is infectious.

Something must've made Gorlim really happy, aside from a weird sort of resurrection that is.

"What's got you so over the moon lately?"

"Livin' and the stars do burn," Gorlim says, his voice heavily accented and lyrical.

Rabastan just gives Gorlim that sly look that says "I know everything" even when he doesn't.

"I think it's more than that, brother," he says with a poke to Gorlim's ribs. "You're not usually this chuffed about something."

Gorlim grils and leans back, sprawling on the table.

"Why SHOULDN'T I be happy to be alive?" he asks, tossing a bottle-cap at Rabastan's nose.

Somewhere in the background the Electric Light Orchestra sings "I'm Alive"...

"I think it's more than just joie de vivre, gwador," he smirks. "So you'd better tell me what it is or I'll nag you all night."
