The shift between Gotham cold and Bar warmth is stunning. Leaving behind a city that is locked in the grip of ice and slush for the summer days of the great outdoors of the ersatz Scottish wild.

Thus do we find Knox in shirtsleeves, working up a bit of a sweat in slacks too heavy for July.

"They haven't figured out if he can't change back or if he just hasn't worked out how to yet," Steph says, morose. "I really really hope it's the second one."

"Wait...it's not the full moon here, right?

"Something's really wrong, isn't it?" Knox knows everything he knows about werwwolves from old movies and Wells. This doesn't fit.

She nods, mouth squished up tight, looking like she's about to cry. "His world doesn't have werewolves, so it might've ... might've just made him a wolf. We don't ... we don't know."

"Oh lord. I'm so sorry to hear that." Knox really feels sympathy. But he can't help ask more questions. "What happened?"

Reporters. Steph bites her lip hard, and says "Well - he got bitten. And he thought going back to his world would fix it, because there aren't any werewolves there. But it ... didn't, I guess. And he came back, but he's ... yeah."

Knox shakes his head. "Who bit him? You'd think they wuld have some kind of rule keeping the bad wolves from biting people." Becuase Knox assumes it must have been someone like Raina.

"Uh. Wells."

She grimaces.

"He breathed in silver, and Zuko tried to stop him having - convulsions, seizures, I forget what the word is, and - yeah."

Knox takes a moment to absorb this. Wells did this. But by accident. OK, that made sense. Wells would never do this to anyone. The rest, though...

"How the hell was he breathing silver?" Knox has a bad feeling about this.

"There was a - a thing," Steph explains, with the great clarity and conciseness of expression that's made her a fantastic teacher - oh, wait.

"Uh, col - colloidal silver? I think that was the word. They put it in the air vents."

"A thing. And they..." It dawns on Knox what she's trying to say. Even if she doesn't know waht she's saying.

"He went home. That big raid of his happened. And..." Knox winces. "Lousy black ops guys.

"Wells is okay now, right?"

She nods quickly. "Yeah. He was - he wasn't - for a couple of days - but he's okay now."

It's always horrible to see people hurt and sick, but it's particularly horrible when they're men like Wells. That's like - like Batman being flat on his back - it's just wrong.

"Yah, that's Sarge. Nothing can stop him." It's not the first time that Knox wonders if the man in the batsuit is like Wells, only not British. (Heck, who knows? It's not like Bats gives interviews.

"Bet he has some story to tell. Even if things went wrong." He sighs. "I really hope your guy is okay.

"And that you're careful. A werewolf vigilante would be way too weird."

"Oh, I'll be all right," Steph assures him. "I'm careful."

It's only Zuko she's worried about now!

"You better be. I don't think the world is ready for the Batwolf!" He gives her a cheeky smile.
