The door opens and a familiar face comes in... but for the time being, it's not Michael Guerin in the driving seat.

By mutual consent between him and Michael, Rath of Antar has just come to Milliways as more than just a passenger.

"Hey--"

She pauses, and blinks at him. She's getting some odd mixed signals.

"--Michael."

He notes the hesitation, and the smile turns a little crooked.

"You're quick." It's approving. "No wonder he likes you. Rath of Antar, at your service."

"Dai'stiho," she replies, more or less automatically -- still frowning, though.

"I'm sorry, I know I've heard about you, but I'm having trouble placing . . . well, why you're Michael."

"This is a temporary arrangement", he assures her. "He's still here, and awake, though I have control for a time. To come to this place as more than his passenger."

Her expression brightens. "Okay, I see."

Then, curious -- "How do you guys . . . negotiate that? I'm playing host myself, at the moment."

"We talk it out, when the change of control is intended to be for more than a few minutes. When something needs be said urgently, there is a standing agreement that I may borrow the voice."

"That seems fair enough. How long do you get to drive?"

"This time? For the duration of the visit." He looks at her curiously. "Are you and your passenger in a similar situation, or...?"

"Probably not." She grins a little. "I think we would've recognized you if you were a Power."

"Ah." He bows his head in respect. "No, just a simple dead man."

"As simple as that is, around here."

If he's watching, he might see a light in her eyes for a moment that isn't quite Nita -- considering him, examining him.

Oh, he's watching. He looks at her candidly.

"Simpler than many things. My respects to your passenger."

"Well met, Rath."

The Whisperer nods to him, cordial and smiling.

"Likewise, Lady", he replies, returning the smile. "May I know which name to call you by?"

"Nita calls me the Whisperer. It's a good name."

"As good as any", he agrees. "An honour to meet you, then, Whisperer."
