Said CSI is wearing a Today For You productions t-shirt and peering through a microscope.

She can be bothered.

A cup of coffee appears beside her microscope from a slightly-sweaty, sunburnt blonde man with a grin. He sits at her table, but says nothing, just lets her work.

She's fully absorbed in her work so she is a bit surrpised when she notices the coffee.

The bearer of coffee gets a grin and a kiss on his cheek. "Hi."

He kisses her cheek as well. "Hey you. What's so fascinating?"

"Cross-sections of fiber samples."

Well, he asked.

"Fascinating." Mark raises an eyebrow. "Then again, I spent the day trying to find a new sort of film, because the kind we were using got suddenly discontinued." Ah, bohemian filmmaking.

"Oh, fun. Have been able to locate what you need?"

"Well, I thought I'd found it. But the film store turned into the bar. So I don't exactly know yet." He grins. "I'll get back there eventually."

She chuckles. "I was at the lab putting in some overtime. Same thing happened."

"The bar conspires against us, I swear." He pauses and smirks. "Or perhaps it conspires for us."

"Mixture of both, I'm thinking." She takes a sip of the coffee.

"I talked to Collins earlier."

Mark laughs. "Yeah, he rather accosted me when I came in, too. That's Collins for you, though. He didn't tease you too badly, did he?"

"Nah, he's sweet. Said he was sure I'd be better for you than Maureen."

Mark facepalms. "I think he'd think anyone was better for me than her." Granted, it's true, but Mark tries to have a little pride sometimes.

[guppy_sandhu]

There is a wobble from the table as Guppy trips over the table leg, sending coffee flying all over the floor.

The fact that he was trying to read whilst walking probably contributed.

"Jeez! Guppy, are you all right?"

[guppy_sandhu]

"Yep, sorry." He picks himself up and rescues his paperwork from the pool of coffee. The coffee is hot enough to sting but not scauld him, so he checks his hands for a moment to make sure there isn't any damage.

"Wasn't looking where I was going." he says quietly, now looking distinctly embarrassed.

"Happens to all of us." She gets him a towel from the bar and a replacement mug.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Thanks."

He mops up as best he can, fortunately already in scrubs. He looks like it's been a long day.

"Did I damage your microscope?"

[lvpd_sidle]

She shakes her head. "Takes more than coffee to do that. Sit down--you look exhausted."

[guppy_sandhu]

He nods, and sits down.

"Thanks, I am quite tired... well okay yes, exhausted." he rubs his forehead. "Holidays are always busier."

[lvpd_sidle]

"Which holiday are you dealing with?"

[guppy_sandhu]

"Summer. Christmas is worse."

He thinks back to last year's, in which he distinctly remembers at least fifteen writings down of 'injured by turkey'.

"Is it the same for you?"

[lvpd_sidle]

"Yeah. We get crime year round but it does vary a bit depending on the season."

[guppy_sandhu]

Guppy nods.

"Do you get less crime when it's raining?"

He sips the fresh coffee.

[lvpd_sidle]

"Doesn't rain much in Vegas. Desert." She grins slightly.
