Library, all day - for Armageddon Plot researchers
There had been this odd magical clock near the back door yesterday, and, as Asar-Suti had explained to Nerdanel's young friend, before poking the thing itself, it was wise to consult books that might or might not contain information he would then not have to find out himself.
So, early Monday morning already found Asar-Suti in the library, pouring over books and the index which he by now kept in his computer. And he didn't just look up all references for 'clock' (and 'watch' and 'timepiece' and even 'hourglass') he could find, he had also put up a big notice on the library notice board that said:
Have you noticed the magical clock by the back door? I find it suspicious and am trying to find out what it is. If anybody knows, please poke me and tell me. Thanks!

That's how he saw the notice board. He's giving it a curious look as we speak.

It was actually Rose who finally said, only half-serious, "Must be magic." Which is why the Doctor is heading into the magical library this morning: to see if maybe she might be right.

"What? Oh. Yes. Good morning to you." He nods to the notice. "Problems never come one at a time around here, do they?"

However, the clock? That she noticed.
She approaches the purple man carefully, as she's understandably wary of colorful ex-gods.
"It's weird, isn't it? I thought they just installed it as decoration, or something."

She pauses, only just now realizing how silly that sounds.
"Um. Don't ask me what I meant by that, because I didn't really think that one through."

Any Scoobies/Slayerettes old or new would certainly recognize the obvious sign of full blown "Research Session" going on here.

Also hungry, hence the mountainous plates of sandwiches and cookies and good old fashioned buns.
He's brought napkins too so they don't get the books grubby.

"Gil! And coffee! And food!"
He grinned brightly at the faun and his tray.

"Coffee, tea or me?" he asks.

The note on the board only deepens her frown as she enters.

"I have seen it, felt its tremors, touched it." She grimaces slightly at that. "It has a protective barrier, electricity of some sort."

He only knew there was a clock. And a bit of shaking that had been mild until last night.
And there was Urza. He never got the man's name, but Urza struck him as someone he could use for his own ends. Perhaps get the Planeswalker to teach him new, powerful magics no Ihlini could dream of.
All that could be put on hold. The Seker was asking for a little help in regards to the mystery of the clock, and, well, maybe this was his opportunity to show his god just how much he'd learned during his time here.

One of the few people he knew in this place was the purple fellow who kept the library and the garden; he'd visited in New Orleans when it wasn't under water yet.
And the purple fellow normally lurked in the library when he wasn't doing things with the faun behind closed doors.
"Ah, you are wondering as well," he said, abruptly, when he entered the library after deposting Claudia in Tokyo and saw Asar-Suti's sign.
"What did it do now?" Asar-Suti sighed; he had been absorbing more and more bad news over the course of the day.
"It made Claudia mortal because she said she wanted to be; I took her home to David in tears," Khayman said. "You know her?"
"Of course I know of her!" Asar-Suti said, shaking his head. "This is getting randomly complicated. It ticks, it hits people, and it fulfils odd wishes."
"It ran backwards a few ticks after it had changed her as well," Khayman offered.
Asar-Suti nodded, and made a note. "Curiouser and curiouser. Keep watching it, can you?" he asked, remembering Khayman's patience.
Khayman gave him a Look, but shrugged and went back downstairs.

"Something helpful, I hope?"
The pile of books with nothing helpful are rapidly outnumbering both the possibles and those left to read.
