[oom: Back at home, Chloe sits, waits, and listens. Beware the Silver Text!]

Chloe enters slowly, not really looking around. When she realizes where she is, she makes her way to Bar and orders a glass of water.

She takes these to a near booth and sits down.

It just so happens that there's a man standing not too far away, who just so happens to notice something.

"Excuse me," he says, "You really should be using a coaster for that. You know, so you don't get any condensation rings on the table..."

And his voice gradually fades as he realizes, that's not the right way to mingle, Adrian. This is not how you meet people. Just because it worked once...

Chloe gives Adrian a very intense glare. "I'm sorry, I didn't know I was in my grandmother's living room."

And mun promptly dies from giggle-fits.

Well, there's a look he hasn't gotten in, oh... five minutes?

"Sorry," he says, frowning a little. "I just... here." And then, like magic, he pulls a coaster out from what seems to be the air! "This'll fix the problem."

Chloe takes the coaster and sets it under her glass.

"Thanks. Sorry. My former co-worker died and some of my friends and other former co-workers nearly got killed, so I'm a little tense right now."

Monk's eyes widen a little bit and he starts to fidget, fingers going over knuckles going under fingers and he says, softly, "Oh."

Then, appropriately, "Bad day, huh?"

Monk's poor attempt at lightening the conversation is terribly... ironic.
