Lyrae is sitting by the fire with a book and a cup of tea.
She feels... normal for the first time in a while.
Her dress is as dark and simple as her hair.
She does not want to talk about the last week or so.
Any of it.

"I'm sorry about that little misunderstanding of ours the other day," he says, eyes focused on Lyrae's forehead.
He will not be getting himself into trouble today.

"It is no matter whether you are sorry or not."

However, there isn't much left for him to talk about.
His eyes drift to the book.
"Interesting?"
no subject
"It is to me."

"What's it about?"

Nevermind that the title was not visible.

"Okay," he says, squinting at the pages. "Biographies on... ?"
He's fishing for words, here.
no subject
"Biographies are on people, Child."

The look of surprise on his face fades quickly and is replaced by one with furrowed brows.
"-- yes, I know, but which people?"
no subject
"Important political figures from my Age. I should doubt if you would know them."

Cue another headtilt as Monk takes a seat.
"What 'Age' are you from?"
no subject
"The Second."
