Danny had a cast on his wrist. His parents and Jazz had been immensely relieved to find out he was okay when he got home, and coming up with an explanation as to why he looked like he'd taken a tumble down a cliff was easy with how trashed the town was. ("I was downtown--got hit with some of the rubble, but I'm okay.") They got him to the hospital, got his wrist in a cast, and took him home, tucking him in and babying him for a bit, before leaving him with Jazz and heading out to clean up the city--sending the remaining ghosts back into the ghost zone.
From their calls back home he and Jazz found out all the portals were clearing up.
Good.
Peace and quiet was a rare commodity indeed.
Before he could relax, however, he desperately needed a shower. He had to take a bath instead because of the cast, with his right arm in a plastic bag and rubber bands on it, to keep it dry. That was annoying.
He would've gotten into his pjs and gone to take another nap, but the bar had other plans.
As such, a lightly bruised teenage boy with wet hair, and wearing naught but a towel and a plastic-bagged, rubber-banded cast walked into the bar, still brushing his teeth distractedly with his good hand.
He blinked his eyes open. When he realized he wasn't in his hallway, he stopped brushing and went scarlet, turning to the door as it snapped shut behind him.
"I sfpill gav to sfpit!" he said to the door around a mouth full of toothpaste mange, his toothbrush still being juggled in his hand as he made sure the towel was secure so no one could see his rear. He tried to open the door and when it wouldn't, he kicked it, then started hopping because he'd hurt his toe. "No fwair!"
But of course this sort of thing would happen to him, considering his pants went clear and fell down at the most inoppurtune times on a regular basis.
Embarassment was his life.

And that's where she'll be! Heading out under the sun and standing by the water, running through basic paces with a glob of lakewater.

His breath puffed out in a little cloud of mist and for once, it wasn't his ghost sense going off.
He met her lakeside, looking just as enthusiastic as before. "Okay, this is totally going to be good, I just know it."
no subject
"What do you think I'm going to do? I mean-- what do you want to see? It wouldn't be a good idea to spar, since our powers are so different. ...At least, I don't think so."
But an invitation to show off would be pretty cool!

A careful stance, hands up, a roll of her body-- and the water rolls with her, a twenty foot wave rising up in the middle of the lake, only to come crashing down with a roar and a monstrous splash!
...not where anyone's sitting, of course.
And Katara smirks. How about a challenge, Danny, come on!

He transformed, so he wouldn't be cold anymore. "Freeze up this whole section of the lake near the bar."
no subject
A swoop of her arms and a pivot of her feet and hips and ice crackles as it slides all the across the lake, right up to puttng frost on the grass of the bank.

Unknowing of the little ditty that just ran through her mun's head, Katara looks back at Danny and grins, reversing her motion to put the lake back to water as she nods. "Sure!"
no subject
Green light glowed in his palms and he shot it towards the lake, breaking up the ice. He made one large orb with both hands ands tossed it.
Kashunk! Ice flotsam and a little plume of water went up.
"Nothin' but net," said the dork.
no subject
But that was still neat! So she laughs anyway, sensing the dorkiness, and takes a stance, arms motioning--
And there's a fish sculpture, sitting on top of the ice-- sticking its tongue out at Danny.
"Your net appears to be weak," Katara informs him, eyes innocently wide.
no subject
"So's your fish." He put a hand on it, and phased the whole thing, dropping down with it as it fell through the ice and half-standing, half-floating on the lake's frosty covering. "Wait, what fish?"
no subject
Well, she knows he can get out of it easily, but there's something very satisfying about wrapping a boy up in a giant ice ball. Even if it's not Zuko.
no subject
Then he disappeared. Down through the lake, up through the ground he goes, where he stops, nobody knows, and...
She got a tap on her back and Danny was floating there lazily examining his nails.
no subject
Actually, she did because this wasn't Zuko and it was fun and she laughed when she did it, batting at him and his nails.
"That's not fair at all - anything anyone does, you could just phase through or go invisible!"
no subject
He was grinning. He knew how powerful that made him.
"So long as I can phase fast enough, nothing can touch me." He tugged playfully on her braid. "But I can still touch them."
no subject
It's kind of strange to her, someone able to be practically invincible. Aang was the closest to something like that and he was still in danger.

"What's the Avatar?" A forum icon? Whut?
no subject
Just-- not so much with the fire.
"There's always been an Avatar, he... well, he reincarnates, sort of. That's why he's like a spirit."
no subject
He couldn't imagine being born with that kind of power, rather than just getting it in an accident. It was being a reincarnating mutate.
no subject
In theory.
no subject
It was something he rarely gave a lot of thought to, but then they were all one huge, multicolored, many-cultured mass of screaming people he had to save from blob monsters.
no subject
The Air Nomads aren't really applicable anymore.
"A lot of the people around here think it's weird, but... I guess if you aren't seperated by something in the first place, people will make something to be seperated about." Which is terribly depressing and gets rid of her smile pretty quickly.

Thankfully at school Tucker only got singled out for being a dork, not because of the color of his skin.
"But at least your world has something like that--someone who can be the bridge between everybody."
He hovered over the bench, ghost-tail a-wigglin'.
no subject
So she sees no reason to correct him, smile optimistic, hopeful.
"Yeah. It's hard for him sometimes, but we all believe in him."
