[OOM: Tim gets the answer to 'why forensics?'.]

The door to Milliways swings open once again. On the other side of the door is the hallway of the Miami-Dade County crime lab. Standing in the doorway is one Tim Speedle, one hand on the door handle and the other hanging onto his motorcycle helmet.

Speed blinks, looks over his shoulder then back again. There's supposed to be a parking lot here. His bike is supposed to be here. Not a bar.

"...the hell?"

OOC: [Mun is heading off to work, and won't be back for about six hours. Feel free to still tag in; I'll respond to all tags when I get back Back from work!]

"Which one?" asks the young woman passing by with a datapad in her hand, pausing to look at him curiously.

She's smiling, though.

"Well, there are nine--"

She stops and shakes her head. Bad Syal; no cookie.

"Sorry -- what I mean is, you seem kinda lost. Are you in the right place?"

Syal grins ruefully and tucks her bangs behind her ear. "Probably the same people who can build a bar in a Star Destroyer in a few hours, if they did.

"Nah, I guess you're new. I've not been here that long myself, but -- welcome to Milliways, the bar at the end of the universe."

"I'm not very good at jokes," Syal lies, but wrinkles her nose for effect. "You're really at the end of the universe -- I didn't really believe it either, but this place is really weird, so just believing that is a good place to start. Look," she adds, and points out the Observation Window.

The view is still somewhere between awful, terrible and fantastic for her.

"The window's good for that," she agrees vaguely, then glances back at him and smiles again.

"Drink and talk and meet people, I guess -- what d'you do in any bar? You get a free first drink, too, if you'd like one. I hear most people do."

"That's one part I haven't worked out yet," she admits, and waves for him to join her as she heads for the Bar. "It just randomly appears -- sometimes it's my bunk room, sometimes it's a corridor -- and there doesn't seem to be a reason. Told you it was weird."

[identity profile] hadtobegood.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Syal grins at that, and pats the surface. "What would you like? Just tell the Bar; there's not always someone behind it."

[identity profile] hadtobegood.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep," Syal confirms, and laughs at his expression. "I thought it was a droid thing when I first got here, but the person I spoke to seemed quite convinced it was magic. And a little sentient, too."

She asks for a glass of lum, herself, and thanks Bar when it appears.

She nods sympathetically, and smiles again. "If it makes it better, the Bar can get you pretty much anything from any world, I think -- it does anything I want from home, and gives me Earth food, too. So you can get all your favourite meals, and it'll keep a tab for you so you don't have to pay right away. And you get used to it faster than you'd think."
