Makita is sitting at a table. Without her coat. The lack of the oversized garment makes her seem somehow smaller. It's much easier to tell that she spent much of her life without enough food.

On the table in front of her lies an impressive pile of weapons. Grenades, a number of pistols, a stack of magazines. And her room key. She's looking at them, trying to figure out how she's going to carry them all around now.

"Yeah...Annie. I met her a couple of times. Nice lady." He pauses to think. She's have no bakeries, no fresh food at all, would she?

"Have you been trying the food here?"

Food. Possibly Makita's favorite part of Milliways. She grins and nods, "Milkshakes and fries and potato skins and burgers and cobbler and stew and chicken alfredo and pie!" It all comes out in a rush.

"Yeah. That's what I mean." He smiles. "Any kind of pie in particular?"

"It was blue." She was too busy eating to ask.

"I think that would be blueberry." Has she ever seen a blueberry?

"But if you want a real treat, try apple pie. Or chocolate cream."

"Maybe? It had little ball thingies in it." Sadly frozen urban shells aren't the best blueberry terrain.

"There's better tasting pie?" She finds that hard to believe. Then she grins, "The woman who made it said she'd teach me how to make pie."

"Someone here makes pie?" He smiles at this news, as well as her enthusiasm. Make pie, not war? "Tell me who."

Makita frowns, then blushes. "I forgot to ask. I was... busy with the pie."

He laughs a bit. "That's okay. I"ll just have to ask around. Goes with being a reporter.

"But it's good to see that you're eating."

She is eating, and enjoying it. She grins, "There's a lot of good food."

"Tell me about it. I sometimes have to make sure I don't overdo it." Not that she would have that problem.

"You know what's really great? You can order food from any restaurant anywhere. I've taken Rapunzel to a couple of great places in Gotham wiouth ever leaving here."

"A 'restaurant' is a place that serves food? Sort of like the bar?"

She doesn't even know that. How long ago did her war start?

"Yes. Gotham isn't famous for much, but it has great food from all over the world. Even Russia."

"Better food than the Bar can give you?"

"Well, I suppose it depends on who you ask. I"m probably partial to Gotham."

She grins, "Bet it's better than food in Bahamut."

"What's the food like there?" He thinks the answer will be "bad".

Makita sorts through her pile and comes up with a ration bar. "Ration bars. We have to take them of the Reds. Want to try one?"

"Er, as long as you have enough of them." Ration bars, taken from the enemy. Things must be very bad indeed.

She nods, "I can spare them, while I'm here. I'm going to try to get some extras from Bar to take back home. We've never got enough."

"Well, might as well." With any luck, this is as close as he'll ever come to a warzone.

It's not a very good introduction. All the nutrients you need with no eating pleasure to distract you. At least it doesn't taste like much, even if it chews like what you might imagine cardboard would.

"Stick with pies, Makita," he says after his finishes his sample.

She nods, "I will. As long as I'm here anyway."

"Good. Oh, and I suppose you should eat something like fresh fruit. I hear that's healthy for a young woman." If he's going to watch over her at all, he'd better not corrupt her eating habits entirely.
