Guppy is sitting by the fire, dipping slabs of Dairy milk chocolate into his tea, then eating them whilst they're melty.

He's still looking tired, but much less frazzled than he has done the last couple of days. The chocolate is, naturally, entirely shareable.

"Are y'kidding? They have a foothold on practically every world from the Mid-Rim inwards, except maybe Onderon. And probably quite a few on the Outer Rim. Two planets and one court case isn't going to put that big a dent in their cash flow."

"That's a lot of money."

"It is, especially if y'take into account that they sold weapons to every side in both wars," Atton shrugs. "Biggest corporation in the galaxy, an' all that."

"Surely the transport between planets must also be phenomenally expensive?"

"Not really. Cheap fuel from Peragus - Not any more, really, it was blown up," Beat. "Which was completely not my fault, honest," Another beat. "Right, anyway. Or from Sleheyron or somewhere like that. If you're not wasting your money on high quality fuels, space travel's pretty cheap. At least once you have the ship."

"Things really have moved on from my time."

"Eh. It's still kriffin' expensive to get a ship," Atton shrugs. "And it can take anything from hours to weeks to get from one planet to another."

"Do you go at light speed?"

"Much faster than light speed, as far as I know."

"I thought that was physically impossible?"

Atton shrugs.
"Hyperspace. Nobody really understands it that well."

"I read somewhere that if you added any more energy to something going at light speed it just got bigger. Shows how much we know."

"That might be true. I don't know, really, but hyperspace has different laws of physics than normal space. I think, anyway."

"Oh. Maybe we haven't discovered that yet."

"Yeah. Like I said, nobody really understands it all that well, even after dozens of millenia of using it."

"How did they find it?"

"No clue. The Corellians claim to had discovered it and invented a way to travel through it," Beat. "But they're all liars and braggarts anyway, and they didn't."

"Must have been going pretty fast to find it."

"Must've. If y'pay attention to some people, they say it was discovered - or created - by some ancient society of Force-wielding aliens," Atton snorts. "Y'get all sorts of crazy theories."

"Hey, I'm never going to dispute the existance of aliens after this place."

"It's not the aliens bit," Atton shrugs. "I mean there are hundreds of different species across the galaxy, and that's just counting the ones that choose to interact with other people. It's the idea that ancient Force-wielders existed with this huge empire, and yet there aren't any records of it."

"Maybe they were destroyed."

"It'd have to be a pretty thorough destruction."

"If it was just stored as data it wouldn't be so hard."

"Maybe if it was all on one computer. But an empire spanning the galaxy, you'd have seperate records on hundreds of different planetary databases. Y'might be able to access all the ones in the Republic at once, but you'd have to visit each Outer Rim world seperately."
