Hiro has -- made himself comfortable. Sure, by doing so he fell asleep in a boothe, but-- still. The guy's had a long (confusing, squee-filled) day. Still, he woke up to the bustling of bar and began to stumble about, realizing:

He has only the vaguest idea of where he is.
He has no idea how to leave, because he can't seem to find a door out that doesn't lead to SCOTLAND, or it's equivalent.
He needs a shower.
He's famished and this place has the best waffles on God's green earth-- or, well, the multiverse.

He's decided to pursue problem 4 -- one and two will sort themselves out but waffles wait for no one. No one.

Though, he does wish Ando were here. It's probably make communication easier. His english drastically improved... what with six months with his prettier teacher... but... Miscommunication is bound to happen. Ando would fix that. Ando's English is EXCELLENT. (Because of the American porn!)

For now? Waffles.

"...yes? Earth! It is 2006!" He scratches his head. "I am -- new. Too. So I cannot explain."

Because it's really complicated and nobody's explained it to HIM.

"I'm glad I'm not the only one confused then. Starbuck was entirely unhelpful in the matter. She just got me drunk and changed the subject."

Typical.

Maybe.

"Nobody got me drunk," he says. He wonders if he should be miffed about this. He decides on no.

"But they didn't explain it to you either, did they?"

Lee hasn't even been shown the Observation Windows yet.

The Observation Window made Hiro's brain stop.

"No," he says, and looks a little miffed about this.

"Do you think they're just having fun with us?"

"That would be mean," Hiro points out. H e doesn't think most people are mean. (That's what he has Ando for; he isn't nearly so naive as Hiro.)

"It would be, but I wouldn't put it past Starbuck. I don't know why they'd want to do something like that to you though."

"Me either." He's already been kicked once in the heart. He doesn't need people to taunt him. "I'm sure someone will -- explain, though! People here are heroes."

"There are heroes everywhere."

Little heroes, big heroes, everyday heroes. His worlds have been blown to pieces, there are less than 50,000 humans left in existance, and he rather thinks that every damn one of them has the potential to be a hero if they choose it.

"But that's not what you mean, is it?"

Hiro blinks a little, and then smiles a little. "No," he says. "Not like that."

He tilts his head, and then says, "But-- kind of like that too."

AFter all, he is merely a salaryman. Isn't he becoming a hero?
