Just after this...
Henry has been enjoying himself in Milliways. He has been meeting good people and friends and finding that maybe, just maybe, he doesn't want to give up on the human race after al. he came from a world where his race is persecuted, his life sucks, and his entire purpose, thus far, has consisted of stealing books and computer time to study in-between running for his life.
Until he found Milliways. In Milliways, he has found friends, unlimited reading material, and safety.
Since the day he arrived, he has not seen a Doorway.
Until today.
He comes downstairs sometime around lunchtime, and ends up in the rafters, like usual. He does come down for a conversation, once and then, just after he finishes it, he sees it.
The Door.
He stops stock still and stares.
There is a door in the wall where there wasn't one before. A Door. The Door everyone told him will lead back home.
He swallows and walks to it, through the crowds, and reaches out, slowly. with his hand on the doorknob, he hesitates, then opens it. And sees the scene beyond it that he remembered. He closes it, suddenly sweating, and leans against it. For a long few minutes, it is all he can do to breathe.
He has a way home. But does he want to go? Flashes of memory come through his mind; Rapunzel, asking him why he would go back, Mallory, and her friendship, Makita, almost like a sister he had never had. He has learned and gained so much here. Why would he go back?
Because something calls him. He isn't sure what it was, but he feels it, deep to his bones. It calls him. He breathes and then nods. No notes, not until he knows what is next. He nods again and goes to change.
Five minutes later, he lopes and bounces back downstairs and across the room, barely touching the floor, until he lands, in front of the Door. He is back in the clothing he came here in, weeks ago.
He looks around one more time, then nods, and opens the door...
..and, like Doors do, it closes behind him.
