Ah so, here is the recovering alcoholic hippie, in the bar, at a booth, with real food. Yeah, totally. He's eating it very, very slowly, but he does have what appears to be a ham sandwich. And tea.

And a really big, really old book, compliments of ~~Nearly Wristless Rod~~ Roderick Usher.

He is also playing with a spoon, twirling it in one hand lazily.

Please annoy.

"I agree," it says, smugly purring against Miniver's hand.

Miniver squeaks in surprise.

"Oh, for heaven's sake!" More laughing. "Um. Hi."

The cat grins, amused. "Good evening."

"Good evening. I didn't realize you could understand me. Er. Man. I don't think I've met a talking animal before."

"You still haven't met a talking animal, but that is all right." Though it shouldn't be able to, the cat shrugs.

"Oh." Blush. "Sorry. You uh... er... well, you're kind of... a cat, so you know I assumed..." Cough. "I'm Miniver."

"Just shaped like one, that is all."

"Pleased to meet you, Miniver. I am Yrael."

"Pleased to meet you, too." This is so cool, he thinks. "Why are you shaped like a cat if you're not really a cat?"

"People like you give me free food and scritches?" He grins, charmingly.

It worked, didn't it?

Miniver giggles. "Okay, I think I'd do that, too. Here." He shoves the rest of the sandwich at the cat. "You can have all of it if you want."

The cat eyes the sandwich, smiling, then decides opposable thumbs are needed for sandwiches.

He gets to his paws and drops down to the next barstool over. As he drops down, there is a bright light, and then there is a young albino man sitting there. His skin is bone-pale, his hair stark white. He's wearing a comfortable white shirt and white slacks. His feet are bare and pale on the rung of the barstool. The lack of color to him hits the eye hard. All his color seems concentrated into his eyes, which are impossibly bright green with vertical slices of black for pupils.

"Thank you," he says, cordially, and takes the sandwich.

....buh.

"Cooooool."

"Hm?" He says curiously, mouth full.

"Well, that was really neat," Miniver stammers nervously. "I've seen Draco change shapes but it's still... like... awesome. My world didn't have magic."

"Ah. I know Draco. He is from the Wizarding World. I have visited there a few times, but not recently."

He takes another bite of sandwich.

Miniver grins brightly. "Hey, fantastic! Yeah, I know about that place. Gonna go there. Soon, probably."

"Try the butterbeer when you go. And visit Honeydukes in Hogsmeade." He smiles.

"It is a... quaint little village, as I remember it."

The smile spreads into a grin. "Though I preferred the gigantic Wizarding library in Amsterdam that Tom snuck us into."

"Library?" Oooooooh. Just MENTIONING something like that is enough to make Miniver get all doe-eyed. Well, moreso than usual. "Is butterbeer alcoholic? Can't drink it if it is."

"I think it is very slighty alcoholic. I am not sure. It could be just very carbonated."

"And yes, the library was astoundingly wonderful. Tom practically had to drag me out of there."

"He'd have had to drag me." Miniver sighs dreamily. "I want," he murmurs, "to read every book there is. Everywhere. Or at least all the stories there are."

Yrael laughs, "Oh I like you. You remind me of me."

"People think I am strange when I want to visit their world to visit their libraries."

"I'd like to see the libraries in all the worlds that have them," Miniver grins. "Especially Greece and Rome and... oh, everywhere! I'd probably die before I could read even a fraction of them, but how wonderful would it be to TRY? Although I guess... I might rather end up living in the other worlds I can read about. I will someday, you know." He's very certain of this.

"I have not seen the library in Rome, but I have spent a day in the Athens library. It is wonderful. The reading room there is two stories tall, and has columns on either side."

"It is not a bad ideal to seek to live in another world. I am living here, after all, and do not go back to the world from which I came, much, so I cannot condemn it."

"I'm never going back to mine. Never. It blows. I'm going to learn to be a wizard, right? So I can survive wherever I want. And protect everyone I love so they'll be safe. And be... someone." He's half-dreaming, barely talking to Yrael specifically. A poet's babbling.

Yrael tilts his white-haired head, curious. "Who do you want to be, if not yourself?"
