He spins her around a little, and dips her low, kissing her lightly as they stand back up.
"That day's long past. I have so many things now that outweigh any regret from then."

He swallows hard. Even saying that makes him feel vaguely uneasy, like it had been entirely his choice. It hadn't. He'd wanted to give her the freedom to make her own decisions. He had deferred to the more worthy man. It's not like he had any claim on her. Not really.
