There is a man.

Well, not a man. He looks like a man, but he's not quite a man.

He has a screwdriver.

No, it's not sonic. It doesn't have to be.

He also has what looks like a radio taken a part in front of him, a bowl of olives, and a cup of near-soupy coffee.

[This falls, for the sake of sanity, some time between the two OOMs in Harry's entrance post today.]

Wells is in a fair mood today, which is a relief compared to how it's been for some time this week. Spotting a familiar face and catching whiff of the matching scent, well, that goes even more for his mood. He migrates over towards the table of the unfortunate radio, raising a hand in greeting.

Hephaestos raises his eyes and gives Harry a warm smile. He gestures to the other side of the table.

Wells nods and settles into the chair. "Evening," he says. "Never did get to thank you properly for the other day. Annie's got a shitload of baklava at home for you and the missus, though."

Oh, the smile is bigger. Much bigger. Wells has learned the rather easy route to Hephaestos' heart.

"Thank you."

"Y'welcome," says Wells gruffly. "I owe you a hell of a lot. It's the least I can do."

He shakes his head.

"I take care of my own... when I can."

And he doesn't say it, makes no mention of the fact that he was aware of what Wells had said, that Wells' admittance aloud had let things slip into place that made him feel a hundred times better...

It's there, but only if you know him.

The spoken sentiment is one Wells understand all too well. He's infantry, after all. As for the rest of it, he might have something of an idea. So he just inclines his head and says, "And we appreciate it, I'll tell you."

He glances at the dissected radio and says, "Keeping busy?"

It's not actually a dissected radio. It's something a little more specific... not that he's saying.

"Oh yes."

The little smile gets warmer.

Wells, alas, is not much good with the specifics of electronic innards. That was Bruce's job. Still, he nods. "I don't suppose I might be able to ask you a favour," he says. "Not for me, you understand. I'm not that greedy. This is for one of my men."

Will's at a table close by and sees the pieces and his curiousity gets the better of his comfortable seat.

The penny dissapears into his purse as he picks up his hot chocolate, "What do the pieces make, sir?"

He looks at the young man.

There's a certain warm to his expression, even though it's obvious they've never met before. He leans back in his seat and gestures to the other, empty, side of the booth before spreading a hand over the expanse of pieces. Might he like to look at them further and guess?

Will smiles and takes the seat, not touching the pieces but trying to figure them out. Some of them look forged and others seem strange and unlike anything he's seen before,

"Looks like a jeweler's and a blacksmith works, sir, tis the strangest collection, I've e'er seen."

He doesn't quite laugh, but there's a hitch of the shoulders and his smile widens. He nods.

"And they all fit together in the same thing, tis not many little things?"

Will reaches out to pick up a piece and stops himself feeling worried how patient this man is and he's been yelled at by enough artisans in his time.

Heph gestures for him to touch if he likes even as he nods in affirmative.

Will picks up a piece of the electrical wiring trying to figure out the purpose of something as delicate as something a jeweler would make though it does not look like anything he's ever seen.

For a comparision he pulls out a silver ring with a red stone from his purse using it to judge the workmanship and looks at Heph, "The riddle confuses me, sir, what is it for?"

"It's a device," he says, his voice both a human voice and so much more. The clang of hammers sound in the tone, along with the shift of magma deep within the earth and the faint hiss of a quenched blade. "It's used to hear things from farther than should be possible."

Axel had been heading back to his couch, but when he spots Hephaestos, he turns around, gets another mug from Bar, and heads on over.

He slides into another chair at the table, and offers one of the mugs.

It's hot chocolate.

He smiles and nods his thanks before welcoming him to the table with a hand.

Sit. I'm working but I'm happy to talk.

Axel sets the chocolate in front of Heph, and a little to the side.

"Been a while," he says.

He shrugs. He has periods where he doesn't want to deal with anyone and others where he just needs people. Often the second time had been one mostly of great frustration, but the bar was helping.

Axel... actually kind of gets it. He spends most of his own time hiding by the fire, watching for Roxas. Or Xemnas.

"What're you working on?" He recognises the component of a radio, but you never know.

It's a little more exact than a radio, but that's the general gist.

He shrugs.

"Something for the volcano."

"Nice." Axel nods. "Looks a bit like a radio," he comments. Not exactly his area of expertise, but it's related.
