Belle is in bar, looking at her wide array of bruises. She looks very tired, but not sleepy tired. There's a bo staff leaning next to her, because the entrance to bar is a lot closer to the practice grounds than her house.

She's got tea and bowl of oatmeal, along with the day's paper. She's mostly folding the latter, trying to get it as small as possible. Though she's also people watching, because the breakfast crowd at Milliways is usually interesting.

Company would welcome, as she's obviously bored as well as tired.

"Belle? Are you feeling better, dear?"

She looks up and smiles sheepishly. "Oui. Sorry f'r de las' time."

She smiles, touching her friend's arm. "Do not worry, I just noticed you were not in a talking mood."

She nods. "Was a rough night. No 'cuse, though. Mind if I buy y' somet'in' t' make up f'r it?"

"You do not have to buy me anything. Just knowing you are allright now is enough." Cait grins, giving her friend a peck on the cheek. "How have you been?"

Belle grins. "Fine. Been puttin' de oldest kids through deir paces." She indicates the staff and her arms. "As y' c'n see. Hopin' t' get 'em on de field soon."

"Oh, so you smack them with the staff if they misbehave?" Cait winks. "Naughty."

She chuckles. "Non. I smack dem wit' de staff when dey give me an opening. Sparring is de bes' way t' see how de kids handle demselves."

Because the first kill is no time to find out you have qualms about hurting people.

True, before real battle, you have to be already tested and found ready. because the battlefield is no place for experiments. "Oh, unarmed combat. I learned some about it, enough to increase my skill with my powers." Because really, she can snap staves with two fingers.

That kind of flashiness isn't terribly useful for Belle's line of work. "Non, dey have staves, too. 'S basically swordplay f'r beginners, since dat deir next weapon."

Having conquered a myraid of others before even making it that far.

But very useful in Cait's. "And after swords?" because see, she is curious about other training methods. She learned mostly unarmed and firearms/energy weapons.

Belle shrugs. "Den dey go out int' de field. What dey pick up past dat is deir own business. Though there's lots of opportunities, f'r does who wan' t' learn."

She's teaching a class about cultivating poisonous plants one night a week that gets fairly good attendance.

"No firearms classes, then?" Because guns give her a range advantage that often offsets the loss in power.

She is passed by a tired-looking doctor who was on his way to the infirmary.

He stops and eyes the bruises though. Can't be in his line of work for long without noticing such things.

"Hey." A smile. "You okay?"

Belle chuckles. "Hey. I'm fine. Sparring wit' de kids. But thanks f'r askin'. C'n I buy y' a coffe or somet'in'? Y' look tired."

He smiles. "That would be great, thanks."

Still eying the bruises. "Do you want ice for those?"

She smiles and orders a coffee for him. "Non, de cold's worse den de pain. I'm fine, promise, Doctor. Y' should be takin' better care o' y'self, anyway. I never see y' lookin' like y've slept."

"Clearly your students have learned well if they can leave that amount of damage on their teacher."

He smiles. "I know. It isn't for lack of trying, I assure you."

She nods. "Oui. Y' goan be okay wit' jes' de coffee? Looks like a nap might serve y' better."

He smiles. "I'll be fine, thank you. I'll take a nap in a bit. I'm used to it, it comes with the job."

A little more complicated at that, but he's not going into it now.

"Do your students have to take exams?"

She nods. "Oui. Dis is it, act'lly. De leader's by definition de best o' de guild, soid dey c'n last ten minutes wit'out bein' 'killed'," here she used finger quotes, because no assassins had died in the exams for years, "den dey graduate, 'n' go ont' deir firs' job. De big question dis answers is act'lly whether they have de stomach f'r de job."

Because anyone caught going light on the exam obviously wasn't meant for the guild.

"Well that sounds a very fair means of examination." Guppy says, taking it all pretty well really, considering they're talking about killing people and all.

Belle shrugs. "Fir f'r dem, anyway, dey doan hafta fight twenty kids in five days. How you been, Doctor?"

"There's no other teachers you can team up with?" Guppy asks, sipping his coffee.

"I'm okay thanks, we finally got fully staffed at work after a several month wait."

[poisonwine]

"Not if it's t' be done right. Guild c'n take a few changes, but not many, wit'out fallin' int' anarchy. Figure I'll save de changes f'r important stuff. I c'n deal wit' gettin' knocked around a bit."

"Good, dat mean y'll start gettin' sleep?" This is said with a grin, to indicate that she's halfway teasing.
