Some days really are better than others. This is why Spoon avoids freaking out when yet a-fucking-gain a random door opens onto the bar. Instead there are several moments of quiet canine, then Nelly heads in followed by Spoon and two gray puppies. All three of them settle down near the fire, Spoon pulls out Norby, the Mixed-up Robot (he is simply not capable of any more Henry V today) and while the puppies pounce the feet of Nelly and Spoon, Nelly's tail, and Spoon's free hand, the man smokes and reads.

Caucasian Ovtcharkas are strong willed, courageous, and assertive. Even as puppies. Which is why Raisa and Stepan decide now is the time to bark. Loudly. LOOK LOOK LOOK SMELLS LIKE CAT AND PERSON LOOK STRANGER STRANGER LOOK LOOK PAY ATTENTION TO US THERE'S A WEIRD SMELLING STRANGER LOOK LOOK LOOK
Oi, kids, that's Ace and Magic. Calm down. Come on, kids, quiet now. and Spoon sets his book down to put one hand over each yapping muzzle.

She is also still very tired, and hasn't had her coffee yet.
Thus, her logic isn't exactly Earth logic right now.
"My God, you've shrunk the pups." She says in a sort of horrified bemusement, actually stopping to stare. Magic doesn't stop, ambling over to say hello to everyone.
Hi Spoon, hi Nelly. You two are loud. Mum doesn't smell weird, she smells like mum. So sayeth the much older and wiser Doberman.

Still smells like cat. Stepan points out, while Raisa stuffs her nose in Magic's face and sniffs madly It's our job! We're loud so that our people know when there are strangers! We say STRANGER STRANGER STRANGER!
Magic always needed an enthusiastic puppy barking right in her face, right?

STRANGER STRANGER STRANGER like that? She barks back, tail fanning the air in glee over her own mischief.
"Magic, knock it off. They're adorable, Spoon, where-ever did y'get them?" She asks, offering Stepan the back of her closed fist to sniff. Ace has learned some things while living with a dog.

Stepan really isn't sure about all of this, sniffing dubiously. Then his sister squirms out of Spoon's arm and steps on Stepan's head so that she can smell too.
Ow. says Stepan. Spoon picks Stepan up again, rubbing his ears gently. Oi, Raisa, be careful. Hallo, Magic. How's Ace recovering? "Sarge found a breeder, lass, and we went out yesterday to pick them out."

Another pillow in the pool.
"That's brilliant. What are they, b'sides monstrously fluffy?" Ace asks, keeping her hand out for Raisa to sniff thoroughly.

And small note about anyone sniffing her scent, aside from the usual scent of human/cat, she's got the distinct scent of forest on her. And dirt smudged at the hem of her jeans, and a little on her feet. Who needs shoes to run in a forest?
no subject
Spoon's got a hand around Raisa's muzzle, however, and the little bitch is trying to bark anyway, "Hallo, ma'am. Have a good run in the forest, ma'am?"
no subject
She gives a nod and a small wave at Spoon. "Yes, I did. It's nice out today, in my opinion." She marks her book and rests it in her lap, "And Elizabeth, please?" Yes, she'll correct him until he keeps it up. "How are you doing, today?"

His book about bargains and the underworld was left on the floor in his absence, since he didn't expect anyone who would take an interest to come along. Considering puppies and their interest in everything, as well as the chewful qualities of book spines, that may have been a mistake.
During one notable week with a teething labrador, there were tooth marks left in the chair rung, the dustpan, four squeaky toys, and two and a half cooking magazines.

Raisa is going to be more of a handful than Stepan. Spoon gets this. He really does. Stepan thoughtfully nibbles the edge of the cover before deciding that Spoon's trousers taste better.

It's important to give your animals advance warning before springing BOWs on them, although Jack is less springing and more checking the back cover of his book one more time as he approaches.
Socialization with nonhumans is best begun early! Otherwise your puppies might get confused and fetch innocent were-armadillos.
no subject
The puppies are not impressed with this logic.

Mun thinks Jack'll do fine with puppies, but forgot about the plaga. Which is why Krauser's conscious of a powerful urge to shift away. They're small and erratic and make sharp high fierce sounds. No good can come of this.
The plaga is told to shut up, and subsides.

But now she's looking at puppies. Puppies which are clearly too cute to be let out in a bar. People might just be trying to work up a good depression that could now be well and truly set back by at least a couple of hours.
Still. They're cute puppies. Kara is currently pretty okay with the idea of just floating a fair distance away grinning at them, but it's anyone's guess at how long she'll be able to resist going over to do a series of stupid teenage girl things.
no subject
The puppies, however, just feel the need to say STRANGER STRANGER STRANGER LOOK SPOON in yelping and yowlping.

He's more than half hunched over them. If the flying girl wants to hit someone, she'll get him instead of the babies.

She was sort of being creepy. It's not surprising if he thinks she's going to continue being creepy. It just stings.
"Cool," she says, floating back to where she was and not a bit closer, "They've definitely got the basic skills down already." See? She's not creepy, she's just interested.

No challenge here, no.
