From the bar, the sounds of an Amberite cracking up.

The scent of candles and chocolate.

One (1) chocolate cupcake with two (2) birthday candles stuck in it, provided by the lady bar.

Happy milliversary, Random. Two years to the day.

"Either she's doing birthdays on a budget, or that's for something else."

Mary Anne grins from two barstools over.

"Been a while since my door popped up, Ms Bell."

He inclines his head, and blows out both of the candles.

"Good long while. This also means I need to think of an anniversary present for Ramon."

"Gotcha," she says, glancing back at the candles.

"Hard to believe it's been two years; it's gone by so fast."

"True, that."

He shrugs. It feels like more, sometimes, all the things that have gone on.

It's been a busy time, to say the least.

"Got any ideas for the anniversary? 'M here to bounce said ideas off of, if it'll help."

"My instincts say Morocco. A trip to."

Not the country, giftwrapped, though Ramon could probably afford it.

She nods.

"Haven't made it there yet myself, but it seems like the kind of place where you can have a good time."

"Hot, which he likes. Sand, which is fun."

He hasn't had a chance to explore.

"Be nice to get some us time exploring something."

"Sounds like a good plan," she says, smiling.

"Should be fun to just...discover a place."

"Exactly. A bit of drinking and dancing while we're at it, and we're set."

Warm nights in a tent together.

"Seems like you've got the planning stage all figured out," she says.

"Should be a hell of a party."

"Maybe I'll sculpt him something small. Or do a painting. He's been trying to talk me into a self-portrait for a year."

Random doesn't like the idea that much.

She tilts her head.

"I didn't know you were into art."

"Not 'into' it so much as... well, yes, I suppose so. I like to paint things I see."

It gets them out of his head.

She nods.

"I imagine you've got a lot of material. Does art run in the family, then, or is it just you and Fi?"

"All of us are passable sketch artists by necessity. I'm not sure who else has taken the time to sit and learn- for me, it's not so much a question of taking the time as the occasional spurt of inspiration adding up. See, even if you do one painting a year..."

That's still a fuckload of practise. Random knows a lot of things that way.

"A whole lot of material, then," she amends.

"Have you saved them all?"

"Christ, no. Most of the paints would decompose. I tend to get rid of them at high speeds. Sales, mostly, it's a good way to travel. I spent a while in a tourist trap, drawing pictures of people coming by looking pretty next to momuments."

That had been a lot of fun.

"Makes more sense that way, even if you did have space enough to keep them all."

Her mouth quirks in a half-smile. "Afraid I've only got enough artistic talent to sketch maps and little else."

"It'll come."

He shrugs.

"None of us are travesties."

The smile widens.

"Not like I don't have time to learn."

"Precisely."

He doesn't ask how things are going. Random doesn't ever mention that thing.

"You seen Fi recently?"

And she won't bring him (it) up, so long as that lets her pretend there's not an elephant in the room.

"No, not for a while. Have you?"

"Trying not to. She's pissed that I got someone knocked up."

Which is her own problem, far as he's concerned.

"She mentioned that," she murmurs, thinking back.

"Keeping your distance from each other seems like a wise idea."
