Suzi and all of her gear is situated for day three of interviews. She's got her list of who has yet to talk to her out, and is ready and waiting.
Today she's got trin tea already made. It tastes terrible, but it's better than the headaches.

Even without the tentacles to jog the memory.

"That means I am sword and shield to an Aes Sedai -- a woman of my world who is trained in the use of the One Power, magic some call it here, and the ways of their sisterhood. A Warder is guard and partner, in peace and especially in battle."
It feels so very strange to be talking about himself. Almost wrong, as if he's selling his skills like a common hire-sword. It's not something he normally does, and not something he normally needs to do.
But there are reasons to do it now, and Lan has made certain kinds of adaptability a lifelong habit.
"I began learning the way of the sword and of battle when I was a child, and I have not stopped."

Lan's eyebrows rise infinitesimally, perhaps to convey that.
"The sword, by preference," he says, touching the plain leather hilt of his own lightly. "The bow, short and long. Knife or dagger. Spears. Sling. Axe and polearms, at need -- halberd, moon-tooth, tsuba, and so forth. Fists and feet, of course."
"Anything may be a weapon, in the hands of one who wields it as such."
"Guns," he adds after a moment, and his nager will show the slight reluctance of admission his face and voice give no hint of, "I know in theory, now, but with little practice." None, in fact, though he's read up well on the theory. He has yet to find anyone to ask to teach him, and he's had other priorities.
