Elisa entered the Bar in full dress uniform. Ramrod straight and grim looking, she glanced around the bar before removing her hat. The door had obviously caught her on a bad day.
That didn't seem to matter though, as she stalked toward the bar and pulled a small plastic bag full of charred plastic bits and ash. She'd been carrying the thing around like a good-luck charm. "Bar?" she asked at last, grinding the bag between her fingers "Give this to Carlos Ramirez with a map of my New York?"
That done she sighed, shoulders slowly relaxing as she just worked on the breathing without anger or crying.

So he just waves to her from his chair by the fireplace, and lets her decide if she can stand a member of the press today.

She noted the wave with a cool nod, and when she'd gotten a few aspirin from Bar and a glass of water she wandered over. Why? Well, she wasn't being incredibly social, admittedly, but sitting down was a good idea...and it got her away from the temptation of alcohol "Hello, Alex."

"Few weeks back there was a shipment of prototype lasers that went missing. They were taken care of, but the thieves sold off a portion on the street. We don't have the technology to combat it" or the body armor...

"The gangs are passing them around. We can't catch the guns." she ground out, hand clenching around the water glass. Was it any wonder she'd actually started recruiting from the Bar, no matter how hard it'd be to explain?

He hasn't noticed her, at least, so he can safely be ignored. Or at least, as safely as Xanatos can ever be ignored.

Luckily? She was a good cop. She didn't scream, yell, shoot him...no, she just turned on her heel and headed further down Bar's length.
no subject
Ah, yes. It would be Detective Masa, wouldn't it? No one else has that particular piercing glare.
She's preoccupied with something on her mind, though, so he merely offers her a polite nod and a tight smile.

Her fingers tightened on the hat tucked against her arm, and that lovely glare kicked up no few notches at his nod. Sometimes he really got on her nerves.
Well...all the time, admittedly.
She nodded, once, tightly, but she wasn't going to go out of her way to inform him about the situation he'd created.

Xanatos shrugs, and there's something almost apologetic (but not entirely sincere) in the expression, before he turns his attention back to the pad.

Damn it.

Now as he comes into the bar proper he is glad to see Elisa though he can only offer her a tired smile. He has been here too long and wants to return and seeing that she is upset does not help.
"Elisa, what is wrong?" He asks as he approaches her.
no subject
He was comforting, simple as that. "Funerals today...then back to tracking down the lasers."

"It's bad" she couldn't really get past that point with the threat of tears.

He turns back to her and rests his hand on hers that is on his shoulder. "I am sorry this has happened Elisa. I should be there to help you now."
no subject
"It was daytime when I left, else I'd take you up on that" she sighed. Hell, she was contemplating it anyway, the second funeral would carry through to the evening...

Bad days? Oh yeah.

"For me? You shouldn't have."
He's kidding, though, as he puts the map down on the table.
"I was wondering if you would leave it for me. How've you been?"
no subject
She glanced up at his approach, weighing him a moment before offering him the ghost of a pained smile "Hey, no need to wonder, you're the best hope I have right now" and every word of it was honest truth. "I've had better days. You?"
no subject
He settles in his seat.
"Lemme finish my coffee and I'll give this thing a shot."
no subject
"No rush, I'm killing time now." she assured. Besides, it was rude to push people who were helping you.
